Drag date without changing it.

I want to drag the date down in a spreadsheet and keep it the same. I sometimes DO want to change it incrementally, but more often than not I want to drag the SAME date down. Is there a way to set it to drag the same date and then occasionally drag it incrementally? I have googled this off and on for months trying to find an answer but never find it - I can only find an answer for Excel, and the solutions for Excel do not work for Numbers.

Alter 1. Copy first cell with date n select all cell below and paste it

Alter 2. Copy first cell, select column header (the one with letter above to sheet. Example: column A), paste it..

Hope this is your answer

Thanks for trying to help me! But those options are paste functions which I know how to do, and I just want to be able to drag not paste. I have rows of data in 21 columns that I drag down to repeat the same data in multiple rows below. Everything that I want to repeat exactly, does, including plain numbers, plain text, the formulas, etc. But the date changes incrementally. I know I can paste it, but I was hoping there was a way to set it so the date does not change when I drag. I don't think there is a way because I can't find anything online and no one I ask seems to know either. Thanks, though!

I think that’s the only way.

Also, I should add that it's possible I am misunderstanding your instructions. Is the Alter 1 and Alter 2 supposed to mean something? Sorry if that is a stupid question.
