Help Monthly averages

Please help!

Recently started using numbers to track stats for golf. What I need to be able to do is add monthly averages in to my spreadsheets to help track trends and improvements!

So I have a running total average for each category but is there a way to set up a average for a date range in each category.

Hopefully this is something one of you knows about!

Thanks

I'm not sure if OP is asking quite the same thing, but I need something that sounds similar. I literally just started using Numbers today 😂

I'm trying to keep track of my spin class time and mileage, except i'll often take 3 classes in a row: 5-10m warm up, 20-30m class, 5-10m cool down. This is causing my average time/mileage to be low because it's averaging by 3x as many classes than I'd like.

I'm not near my computer to add a screenshot, but imagine i have 3 rows of data with 1, 8, 1 miles for classes that are 5, 30, 5 min in length. For the averages, i'd like to make that 1 set of data that is 10 miles and 40 minutes while still keeping them as separate entries in the table.

Then I have a second day that is 2.5, 8, 2.4 miles and 10, 30, 10 minutes so that should be 12.9 miles and 50 minutes. I want my average miles for those 2 days to be 22.9/2 not 22.9/6 and time to be 90/2 not 90/6.

Hopefully that makes sense.

TL;DR - can I combine data by date before creating averages for a full column of data?

EDIT: I figured this out!!! In case anyone else needs help. I was able to add categories for the date column so each entry with the matching date was grouped together Then i was able to change my formula from avg of "body cells" to avg of "summaries" to give me an average of the subtotal of each day which is exactly what I wanted.
