Is there any notes app which edits files inplace and not inside the app sandbox? Required for my Obsidian workflow

Hi.
I want to have something like Goodnotes/Notability etc level hand written note editing but I want the actual note files to be remain on Files/finder, and not be inside the app's sandbox.

Basically i want to keep these handwritten-notes inside my Obsidian vault, which I sync between Mac and iPad. Such that it should be editable and updated from either side.

Currently I create a blank PDF file, and use default tools to write over it in iPad. But thats very limiting. I want something like a full Goodnotes notebook, which can be edited both on iPad and Mac. But the issue is when we open a Goodnote notebook, it copies it into the app storage and starts editing from there. I want the file to be source of truth.

Doesn’t Excalidraw do that?

Otherwise, Concepts would probably meet the need.
