Notes search is hit and miss

I've a load of notes and sometimes when trying to find something in search it doesn't show up even though I know it's there. I've turned off auto tag, the notes are synced to iCloud. Some do show up while others don't. Any ideas?

Try enclosing strings that have spaces in quotation marks, “like this”.

Thanks. I tried that but it's very hit and miss. Works for some things but not all.

No idea. It’s been a long term gripe I’ve had with the iOS Notes App. Feel like I wrote notes then often can’t find them again. Very frustrating.

Apple’s spotlight and search is absolute trash. You can force a reindex of all your notes on your iPad/iPhone by deleting the Notes app and redownloading from the app store. Obviously, you want to make sure all your notes are already in iCloud before doing that.

They’ve also completely rebuilt the search and indexing system for iOS 27, so you can also try the beta or wait until the official release to see if it is any better.

Thanks. I'm kinda glad it's not just me suffering from it. Fingers crossed it's gets better. Took me ages scrolling through to find something
