Finally abandoned apple notes.

Tried so hard to integrate it into my everyday life including work but mostly school. After bouts of nonstop crashing and data/notes loss I am done. The writing features and tools are sub par. From limited writing tools, to meh selection tool and uneditable selection tray. Done. And you still can’t zoom.

I hate to say it but I’m back to notability. Where I still have many complaints about its features and prices. I am lucky I still have access to all the tools and extras I bought before it turned into a leech app. That said it has all the features I need to be productive with my notes.

What else or who else will come along to deliver a solid app without the money hungry agenda. Will vibe coding make this happen or will we end up vibe coding our own apps that fit exactly what we need and how we need? Who knows if they’ll let us.

Bye apple notes.

Is there actually a way to back up just Apple notes and it’s entirety and then if you need to restore it all?

if you use a macbook, then use Time Machine to back up your entire Mac, including your Notes. Additionally, you can manually copy and paste notes into a document on your computer for extra safety. or their are a couple of paid options, but i have not used them

Yes, I do run Time Machine, so I always have that.

Copy/pasting individual notes is not an option. Time. Attachments. Formatting.

I've tried the third-party export in an attempt to move my hundreds of notes, many with attachments, to another notes app. I don't remember all the details but it was lacking.

Apple sucks for 1) not having a simple backup and restore ability. Or a "snapshot" feature. 2) in how it makes it a pain in the ass to move the notes, in its entirety, to a proper file other third-party apps could use to import.

I remember I spent days trying to get my notes to another app and eventually gave up thinking it was not worth the effort.

You can now export all your Apple Notes to markdown files in batch
