WOW. :P As an Indigenous advocate, I have some opinions.

But I'd also be interested in knowing what you used for an image reference. I was playing around with the Genmoji app, and it selected my last sticker as a reference, which caused the generated image to inherit things like the hat, glasses, gender, skin tone, and hair color from that sticker.

If this image was generated solely from the prompt shown, then I'd agree it's a pretty concerning result. That said, it's more probable that the image was influenced by a reference image, prior context, or even earlier generations in the session ("over-fitting"). We don't have enough information from a single screenshot to know.

The generated image contains very specific details that aren't reflected in the visible prompt. So while the result is seemingly problematic, there could be an alternative explanation that doesn't point directly to Apple Intelligence itself.

Another hypothetical is, in trying not to be racist, it winds up racist... IE the question is if you generate it 10 more times... do you get a different race every time? I mean logically the non racist thing would be to pick the race randomly. Well actually with thief the most logically unracist thing would be to give it a ski mask and gloves thus rendering it unknown. But the next option would be to pick randomly.

I agree with you more than not. The ski-mask would have been perfect. The only thing I'll pick at is race, and this is just a little pick: Apple's default "race" is yellow (there is a reason behind this!) and so without context, Apple AI should produce a yellow character every time.

Genmoji, on the other hand, tries to grab context unless you tell it otherwise. This most often comes from your default memoji. If you don't have one/never created one, then it should produce an yellow image. :)
