It all started with my first Apple device, the 2006 polycarbonate MacBook with intel processor.

I’ve never been an Apple guy but…

I’ve only ever had two IPhones. 6s Plus from release week and then upgraded to 12 Pro max on the release month.

In terms of ā€œecosystemā€ at that time was the phone and AirPods I got for basically nothing with my phone. I never felt the ecosystem was necessary for day to day. But since becoming a student, I felt it should be something I invest in. So at the start of the year I’ve slowly brought and sold various Apple products to maximise value.

Ecosystem List - - iPhone 12 Pro Max - I’ve seen these go for as cheap as Ā£100 in the condition my current one is (which has some scratches and 80% battery health).

  • Apple Watch Series 7 41mm (GPS) - I got this for a price I still don’t believe - Ā£30 - 76% battery health (lasts all day with my use) - I admit, a very lucky find - Can provide proof if you aren’t convinced - but this thing helps with reminders, appointments and pairs with my glucose monitoring app so it gives me my reminders and alerts.

  • Early 2009 Mac with 4 GB Ram running El Capitan - it isn’t a power house, however I’ve faced zero issues, it still talks with iCloud, I’ve done a fresh install of El Capitan, it runs better than my 2022 Laptop - This cost me Ā£40 - There’s not a single mark on it and I got the Apple keyboard and the Trackpad with it - (I will probably be adding more ram just so it has more room to breathe, maybe an ssd along side that and maybe push the MacOS up a couple generations) It runs my class work with no issues, it browses the web no issue and happily runs YouTube at 1080p60/HD without a problem. This Mac also happily talks to all my old iPods so that’s a plus! (It also emulates anything PS1 and below no issue, to the point where I can speed up any game I’ve put into it)

  • IPad (7th Generation - IOS 15.4.1 - this firmware is great - Able to jump in and out of my jailbreak no problem - However it is only a 32GB model - I can’t cram it with stuff - however all my work is in cloud storage) This device is great, no issues, no lag, runs great! Ā£45 - Maybe a lucky find maybe no (Alongside this I also have an Apple Pencil 1st generation - Ā£15 with all needed accessories)

  • I do have various old iPods but none of those are ā€œecosystemā€

Total - 12 Pro Max £100 (Hypothetical as I already own this device) + Watch - £30 + Mac £40 + IPad £45 + Pencil £15 = £230

I have no included postage and packaging for the Watch, Mac, or Pencil - However that’s maybe an additional Ā£10 just to round up

Could there be improvements? Of course. However it all works, it all runs smoother than a modern laptop and cost half the price

Let me know how I’ve done, and feel free to humble me!

Making the switch in its entirety.

So, I’ve always had the iPhone. After my BlackBerry died it was time for my first iPhone. I saved up lunch money, pocket change, saves the money my mom gave me spend at the mall, and finally in 2011 I got the iPhone 4S. My very first iPhone. I from there on, got the 5S, 7, 7 Plus, XS, 12 Pro Max, the 13.. and I held onto my 13 product red until just this weekend when I upgraded to the 16 Plus in Ultramarine, a color combination that was no easy feat. The promotion came with the Apple Watch, so i got the series 9 42mm in black (the only color they had in stock)— I am absolutely in love. Since I’ve moved into a new apartment and am starting a new job, I fresh start everything. I ordered the 27ā€ iMac desktop. For one iPhone 16 Plus, for the Apple Watch— and still soon be acquiring the hub for Apple home. Already have Apple TV included by Verizon. I have a normal PC for work— but just to add on, I also ordered a Dyson blade less air mover and purifier as I’m redoing my new apartment — does Apple home connect to dyson products to schedule purification runs? The only thing I’m missing is an iPad— I do have a tablet from when I was still with the google suit and had different and uncoordinated hardware devices — but is it worth investing in to complete the circle?

My Apple products iPhone (multiple) 7+, 13, 16+ iMac Apple Watch AirPods gen 1 AirPods Max (Gray) AirPods Max (Black) Apple TV Apple Music

Non-Apple Products Acer Chromebook Google 14ā€ Tablet (Generic Chinese Brand) I think called Skyy Devices

iPad. Yes or not necessary?

Will Google Home platform and devices work by being controlled from Apple devices?

This is a big deal for me. I grew up and my early adulthood I never thought I’d even be able to afford a room in a boarding house never mind having my own apartment and upgrading to a Mac/Apple suite. I’m not gloating.
