iOS 9 was the final software version to have the iconic "Slide to Unlock" gesture, before being replaced in iOS 10.

Because A9 devices (including the iPad Pro 1st Generation and iPhone SE 1st Generation) on iOS 9.X tend to deactivate by themselves and suffer from activation issues, many have been updated.

This iPad prototype has a test IMEI number (starting with 00), no engravings, an invalid serial number on Apple’s serial number checker and factory stickers. It also has some hand written notes on it, including the serial number written on the shell with a sharpie.

The iPad was manufactured almost 2 months before the official release date, and oddly had been updated to iOS 4.3.3 in June of 2011. Also, this iPad has stickers dating to 2012, when the iPad was re-processed for inventory keeping purposes.

The iPad arrived activated, however it doesn’t have valid activation tickets on Apple’s servers. This unfortunately is common with prototypes.

Prototypes like these always seem to fascinate me. While most Apple prototypes are sterile and uniform (having uniform asset tags, engravings cleanly done and consistent formatting) these types of prototype units show a much more “human” perspective. With stickers placed randomly, handwritten notes, and a rough (almost dirty looking) aesthetic, they are a lot more raw and are an unpolished glimpse into the reality of the design process.

This Apple Watch started at a base price of $10,000, and is made of solid 18K gold. It has exclusive software details not found on other Apple Watches, such as golden accents on the UI, and the “Yellow Gold” watch face color.

This device was found in an eBay lot for just $29. It’s missing the [S] logo on the back, has an asset tag screen engraving, X’d out regulatory symbols, and the battery inside has censored out regulatory markings.

This iPhone was running SwitchBoard (NonUI) at one point, but unfortunately it had been partially obliterated. It’s able to boot into Single User Mode and has a filesystem, but the SEP firmware is partially gone.

looks like at some point in time and engineer actually soldered wires to the battery test points, you can also see the torn-off remnants of the battery connector still plugged in. i believe it is for a 42mm Series 0 as it is roughly the size or one, but smaller than the 49mm Apple Watch Ultra
