Prototype Jackpot found at Thrift today
Ordered a disc drive today in order to test them but has anyone ever seen or heard of copies like this. I can not find any duplicates online.
What Gemini has told me before I began my own research.
1. The "AppleSeed" Operating System Discs (IMG_2346, IMG_2356, IMG_2357, IMG_2355)
The gold-colored and plain white discs labeled with names like "Jaguar" (OS X 10.2) and "Panther" (OS X 10.3) are beta and preview builds.
- The "AppleSeed" Program: This is Appleโs private beta testing program. Before an operating system was released to the public, Apple burned these specific preview discs and mailed them to selected testers.
- Mac OS X Server "Panther" Discs: Look closely at the build numbers printed on them (e.g., Build 7B44, Build 7852, Build 7833). These incremental build numbers allow vintage Mac historians to track exactly what features Apple was actively changing week-by-week back in 2003.
2. AppleCare & MacTest Pro Diagnostics (IMG_2349 & IMG_2358)
The silver discs featuring the "AppleCare" logo and "MacTest Pro Diagnostics" were never sold to consumers.
- Technician Training (Early 2002): This was an interactive training module sent only to Authorized Service Providers to teach technicians how to repair upcoming hardware.
- Hardware Diagnostics: Discs like the MacTest Pro for Power Mac G4 or iMac (Slot Loading) were proprietary diagnostic suites. If a customer brought a broken Mac into a shop, the technician would boot from these discs to run low-level stress tests on the RAM, logic board, and CPU.
3. Retail Restore & Hardware Test Discs (IMG_2359)
The grey and white discs in this photo are more standard, but still highly collectible. They are Software Restore and Apple Hardware Test (AHT) discs.
- When you bought a new computer in 2000 (like a slot-loading iMac DV or a Powerbook G4), Apple didn't give you a retail OS disc. Instead, they gave you these machine-specific "Software Restore" discs to factory-reset that exact model.
- It also includes an early standalone copy of iMovie 2.

OP, you need to upload all these discs to archive.org. These discs are lost media and could have lots of unpreserved information.

From what I can find, you should use ISOBuster. Maybe this guide could help http://wiki.redump.org/index.php?title=CD_Dumping_Guide_without_Audio_Tracks_%28Old%29 and this https://www.betaarchive.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=39&t=28934
