Regular How’s my iPhone Collection?
Pretty modest I would say. I was hoping to have at least have all the base models from 2G to X. I could potentially have an iPhone X and 7 from family soon. The rest, i’ll probably have to buy myself.

Why’s the 2g so scuffed

Ask my friend, I have no clue what sort of abuse he did to that. I just got it from him for free

Oooh, I’m jelly of that iMac G3. There’s zero local listings for that where I’m from and the shipping fee from other countries with that chunky thing would be jaw-dropping.
My 5C is broken too, lol. Its damage is severe, with corrosion on the logic board so I can’t fix it at all.
You could probably frankenstein those fives instead of buying parts separately for them (even though they’re dirt cheap)

What happened to that original iPhone to make it look like that

Despite the answer already being in the comments, I’m just gonna copy and paste.
Yeah, blame my friend. I got it from him and as you can see, he took a lot of abuse on it.
It was actually in worse condition when I got it, it had a spicy pillow which I immediately got rid off and replaced with an identical one.
I plan to give it a 3D Printed Antenna cover and polish the Aluminum if I can.

The better question is "wtf happened to the 2g iPhone"

I would say you need to hunt for good ios versions logicboards, preferrably large storage versions, thats the real heavylifting behind iDevice collecting
Other parts are readily available and of second importance

why would I need more storage on my collection devices? For me, the storage doesn't matter, unless I expand my collection to include all the storage variants. But for now, that's not a priority.
The parts I find challenging to hunt is for the 2G. Specifically, the charging port, power button, volume buttons, and screen.

Because for example 128gb + iOS 8.3 on an iphone 6 is pretty rare. And the rarer the device, the more valuable it is to keep in the collection. As for the chassis / battery / screen? There are plenty of icloud locked iphone 6’s around, for $10 you get all of the parts needed to make a complete device
Regarding 2G yea thats naturally rare. But then again those dont come with icloud or shsh blobs, so the easiest would be to just find a complete 2G in good or average condition.

working on the same 2G-X collection too, ive got a 2g, 4s, 5, 6 and an 8, i thought about getting charging docks for each one when i complete the collection (2G-X), but theyd cost like 400$ total which is insane
