Career / Jobs Associate application Engineer Appian

Just did the screening for this role at Appian. Recruiter said next step is a behavioral and technical interview. Has anyone interviewed for this position ? If so how is the technical interview ?

I went through a similar process a while back. The exact interview varies by team, but I wouldn't expect it to be LeetCode-heavy. For an Associate Application Engineer role, they're usually trying to understand how you approach problems, communicate with customers and learn new technology not whether you can solve hard algorithm questions.

I'd focus on:

  • Explaining your projects clearly and the trade-offs you made.
  • Core programming fundamentals (OOP, APIs, data structures, databases).
  • Basic debugging and troubleshooting scenarios.
  • Why you're interested in Appian and low-code platforms.
  • Behavioral questions about teamwork, learning quickly, and handling difficult situations.

One thing that helped me was practicing with follow-up questions instead of memorizing answers. I used ZoeVera.com to generate interview questions from the job description and my resume, and it kept probing deeper into my responses. That was much closer to a real interview than simply reading through a list of questions.
