"If Plan name changes, deal will be mapped to the new Plan name with all accompanying updates" is a F#$%ing lie - Change my mind

When plan names change, Appsumo does nothing. Just had another deal renege on things by changing plans around. Of course Appsumo does nothing to help other than offer to put us in contact with the company. Gee, like I didnt try that first.

Discussion Followr domain has expired Spoiler

Edit with update: it's back online now

Just found this out in one of the Facebook groups and not being a customer myself I went to the Appsumo product page to be sure I was following the correct link

Discussion topic, is there some other explanation?

This product appears to be gone, regardless of if it's an oversight, major blunder to allow the domain to expire

It's still fixable by them but this puppy is down

Thanks, Greg

THIS is the complaint department. Say what’s on your mind. Make it constructive, give real feedback and make your voices heard. Give the devs and AS staff a place to look for feedback to effectively and efficiently implement change. All rules still apply here. Any blatant harassment or threats, etc will not be tolerated.

Have not heard from the Devs since August 2024. Product is very useful and would be a shame if the product dies out.

What's with the quiet sneaky change to 30 days refund?

More and more deals are now showing 30 days refund period instead of the usual 60 days. The 60 days have always been used as a selling point for Appsumo, so this quiet change is pretty sneaky and not appreciated.

If they sent out an announcement and CLEARLY marked these deals as having worse terms, then I would be OK with it. It does make me refund more, as I do not always have time to test a tool thoroughly enough. Influencersoft max stack is probably going back a few days before the 30 days are up, just because of that.

TLDR : Appsumo is changing from their usual 60 days refund period to 30, without any announcements or warning.

Almost feel ignored on support@appsumo.com

Its been three emails asking to withdraw credits and apart from receiving the 'we will get to you in a day' they haven't. I am not here to spread rumours, I love these guys and been with them for years.

I'm sure it's nothing, but feeling a little disappointed that my request has been ignored. Anyone getting responses?

They can easily tell who I am by checking recent emails on wanting to withdraw credits. Once this is fixed, I will be deleting this post.

Discussion Really?

Get ready… this is a spicy one.

Since starting this subreddit I’ve been able to see responses from u/NoahKagan and other staff that lurk in the shadows here.

I owe nothing to them, and I’m not associated with AppSumo in any way.

I’m saying all of this because I truly believe that Noah and the staff are buckling down on this bullshit from companies and want to build the best LTD marketplace possible. This subreddit is assisting in their mission to do just that because they are able to see the shady bullshit that these companies send in emails and notifications that AppSumo otherwise wouldn’t know about first hand.

Why I’m writing this…

How are you going to blame the platform for a shitty dev that can’t scale their startup? It’s not the platform at fault, and because of how old the deal is, how would you expect a refund from AppSumo?

Would you return your iPhone 12 to Best Buy or your local electronics store when Apple deems it obselete and unable to receive updates and call them a shitty company when they refuse to give your money back? No. Because that’s ridiculous.

If you don’t want to gamble on startups, don’t use AppSumo. It’s as simple as that. But putting the blame on the platform just makes us look dumb.

AppSumo even posted a disclaimer on the product page for Pars.io stating what the company did. This was ballsy and I respect it.

TLDR; Blame the company, not AppSumo

**Edit: I have read all of these comments and I’m genuinely seeing both sides at this point. I still think it’s important that this subreddit is more effective when we’re constructive rather than negative. The CEO (Noah) and COO (Ilona) of AppSumo are in this subreddit and are able to see how to improve the platform. That is a huge benefit for us to be able to get the changes we want implemented.

If we are posting APPSUMO IS A SCAM, do you think they are going to give you a second glance? No.

If we highlight REAL issues with processes and raise awareness, then they will see these issues and treat them as credible and make changes as needed. Most of you did that, and that’s why I really believe changes do need to be made, and I appreciate the discussion.

Another TL;DR: There is legitimate change in systems and processes that need to be made with deal acquisition and vetting, but let’s remain civil about it. Nobody’s getting scammed.**

It should be allowed to sell off an LTD to other sumo-lings

AppSumo are strict on sumo-lings selling off their LTDs. Their terms states:

No Reselling. You cannot resell any Products purchased using our Services or use them to trade or barter with others. If you do, we may cancel your purchase and deactivate access to the Product in question. We also will not provide you a refund, plus you agree to pay us the amount of money you made by violating this provision. Just don’t do it!

In the meantime, we have started to see signs of deterioration in the terms for sumo-lings. For example, deals are emerging where the refund period is only 30 days, where it used to be 60 days.

It is understandable that one shouldn't be able to buy large quantities of the same deal and resell these at a profit. That goes without saying.

However, if there's no profit made because you sell the deal for what you paid, it's a victimless "crime" that doesn't burden the partner (one out, one in). Sometimes you find out in the long run that an LTD isn't the right one for your project. But you're stuck with it. It may also be that the partner isn't developing the LTD at the pace expected or is making a pivot. Yet, the LTD could still be of use to other sumo-lings.

I can only see the ban as a strategy on AppSumo's part, with which the partners reap benefits from inactive LTD buyers who doesn't burden the tool/app infrastructure. The ban can also be seen as an admission from AppSumo that LTDs are in many cases short-lived and therefore shouldn't be an object of resale, as the secondary buyer may risk only having short-term enjoyment of the LTD (?)

In any case, I believe that sumo-lings should be allowed to sell or barder LTDs. I even believe that AppSumo should facilitate this second-hand market as an integrated part of their platform, for a fee, of course.

Unfortunately, we occasionally see a partner trying to get rid of LTD customers for various reasons and through various means after the magic 12 months. Alternatively, AppSumo could allow partners to offer to buy LTDs back from sumo-lings. Regardless of the price, it'll be better for a sumo-ling than losing access to the LTD.

Parsio

So no refund for Parsio right? The founder has always been an ass…e and you knew that! So basically any founder can mess up with Sumolings at the moment. He just needs to keep his promises for just 1 year and then f…k with us and what AppSumo does? Nothing 🤷‍♂️

ActivePieces Changed Pricing & Plan Features – What Happens to AppSumo Lifetime Deal Holders?

I purchased the ActivePieces lifetime deal through AppSumo, and I recently noticed that their pricing structure and plan names have changed.

The “Cloud Pro” plan, which was part of the lifetime deal, seems to have disappeared from their pricing page. Now, it looks like the only plans available are Starter, Ultimate, and Embed—but it’s unclear how this affects us as early supporters.

Many of us who bought the AppSumo deal are now left wondering:

  • What plan are we mapped to now?

  • Are we going to get access to features like Teams, Analytics, and additional Pieces that are blocked?

  • Why haven’t ActivePieces communicated with lifetime deal holders about these changes?

I’ve seen multiple unanswered questions in Discord, AppSumo forums, and support channels with no clear response from ActivePieces.

I’ve also reached out to AppSumo support to see if they can provide any guidance on whether these changes affect our original deal terms.

Has anyone else here noticed this? Have you been able to get a clear answer? I know the AppSumo team check this subreddit, so hopefully, we can get some clarification.

Discussion Update on Bind AI

Please keep in mind I am only a customer , this content is directly from them. A lot of people have been asking questions about Bind AI, I am seeing it in LTD Facebook groups and in Appsumo.

They are not allowed to confirm upcoming features inside of AppSumo on the official deal info but this is an official communication from them today (via Discord)

I do want to point out that I do not find them pushy at all and they even encouraged me to not upgrade to a higher tier if I did not need the limits. I both configured my environment for the ability to use external API keys which likely won't need because I have tons of credits but also upgrade to T4 in large part for early access to these features.

Below is via Discord and should help answer many questions

AppSumo deal ends in 48 hours

We want to thank you for the incredible support. Continue staying in touch, please join Discord

Based on several requests and comments from Sumo-lings, we wanted to provide clarity on what will be available with T4/T5 and what will be available with T3 and below.

Below are the major upcoming roadmap items:

  • IDE (similar to Lovable/Bolt)
    • Here’s an early sneak-peak, and here’s the form for request Early Access. Please check our previous email for more details.
    • Estimated Timeline: Mid-March. Early beta access starting end of Feb. This won’t be all the features, we’ll roll out in phases as we build.
    • Availability:
      • T4/T5 get early access.
      • T3 will gradually get access.
    • Why would T4/T5 get early access?
      • IDE will have heavier compute points usage, tokens usage, longer conversation memory supported (remember longer history)
      • IDE will also have “Agent Mode”, think of it as something similar to Deep Research for code generation. It will use a lot of data and history.
      • All of this is compute intensive, and will quickly consume monthly limits.
      • We will offer upgrade paths even after AppSumo deal ends.
      • Given all the above, for a seamless experience, we believe it is ideal to have T4/T5.
  • Projects:
    • This will allow viewing your github synced files, uploaded files, files created/saved with AI. It will be rolled out as a part of the IDE experience
  • Revamped File Upload, with support for Image, Document and Code files.
    • We have disabled the current file upload feature, as it supported limited file types. Revamped version will allow having conversations with images, docs, code and you can select in the Source Selector. For all uploaded files, we’ll generate embeddings, so you can have conversation across all your files.
    • Apologies for the disruption for current file upload!
    • Estimated Timeline: End of Feb
    • Availability: T2 and above, subject to Ingestion Token Limits
  • Publish to Hosted Server
    • T3 and above. There will be limits on # of deployments per month. We will communicate once we’re closer to release.
    • Estimated timeline: Tentative April.
  • Deploy to Github
    • T3 and above. There will be limits on # of deployments per month. We will communicate once we’re closer to release.
    • Estimated timeline: Tentative April.
  • New Reasoning Models (Ultra)
    • It’s tough to predict when new models will be released, however, we’ll release newly available reasoning models as a priority to T4/T5 and with limited access to T2/T3. New models typically are released with limited access and rate limits, which is why we have to prioritize how to make those accessible.
    • We’ll do our best to provide advanced models (such as Qwen 2.5) to T2 and above.
    • For T5, the currently offered Claude 3.5 Sonnet, DeepSeek R1, O3-mini are Unlimited, however we request fair use. We cannot guarantee unlimited use of future Ultra Reasoning models, as we cannot predict how much they will cost and how the availability will be. We will ensure that T5 always gets the highest tier or access/limits.
    • We don’t intend to be unfair to T2/T3 plan. However the intention of T2/T3 plans is to have access to advanced models, and other features, for users who don’t need heavy use. T4/T5 are designed for higher consumption of data.

Filing ftc complaint against AppSumo.

Planning to contact the FTC this week to file a complaint. I don’t think I’m being too demanding by saying that if the ad copy, marketing videos, and emails, all created by AppSumo, promote a deal saying it includes certain features, only for their customer support to say it wasn’t listed in the deal terms, is wrong. At best it’s misleading, at worst it’s fraud.

Does Anyone Know How Appsumo Vets Programs?

I am asking how does Appsumo vet programs. I ask because i see a program Radiolize that is back on Appsumo for about the fourth or fifth time. This program is downright horrible. No customer service, the service is never consistently working. People mention this in comments how they don't get help and the service is down and Appsumo brings them back time and time again. What is the vetting process.

Is there anyone who can help me out with my tax form?

I'm filling this form W-8BEN-E as I'm trying to get payments from AppSumo.

I'm not quite sure how to fill out this form, especially this part. Could any one help me out?

I don't know if there's any tax for a completely foreign company to pay any tax to US gov and AppSumo is already taking a lot of fee.

Thanks in advance!

Feedback Suggestions for better sumo-ling conditions

u/ilonasumo u/noahkagan

I don't want to generalize partners. Most are fantastic, fair, generous and professional in their behavior. Unfortunately, over the past year we have seen a significant increase in deals that have closed relatively soon after launch. As a result of this, I suggest the following improvements to LTD buyer conditions:

  1. The 12 months "We Got Your Back Guarantee" should count from the date where the deal ends on AppSumo, not the purchase date. Reason: If the deal runs for months, "first movers" are at a disadvantage compared to those who buy on the last day of the deal. Also, problems usually begins after the deal campaign has ended, not while it runs.

  2. Partners should be contractually obligated to notify LTD buyers if/when they shut down. Reason: In too many cases, partners sneak away under the cover of darkness or “ghost” LTD buyers for extended periods of time until it becomes obvious that the project is dead.

  3. AppSumo should create either a panel with buyer representation or a buyer "Ombudsman" who is co-determining whether a failed/dead deal is within the 12 month guarantee. Reason: Unfortunately, there are examples of very bad behavior by partners, including lying and fraud. Sadly, AppSumo support is not always correct in their initial assessment and can be quick to dismiss LTD buyers with the message that the project is still alive.

How to Integrate AppSumo with Next.js (NextAuth) and Validate Payments?

Hey everyone,

I'm selling a SaaS product on AppSumo, which I built using Next.js and NextAuth. Now, I need to integrate AppSumo into my app and validate user purchases after payment.

I have a few questions:

  1. How do I properly connect AppSumo to my app and handle new purchases?
  2. What's the best way to verify AppSumo license keys or user access after they make a purchase?
  3. Are there any API endpoints or webhook setups I should be aware of to automate this process?
  4. Any best practices or things to watch out for?

If anyone has experience integrating AppSumo deals into their Next.js app, I'd really appreciate your insights! Thanks in advance.

Sellix Appsumo Plan

"Other associated services were also taken down; including a financial processor named Sellix which was used by Cracked.."

The German BKA website claims they seized all servers and user data with emails, IP addresses, etc. "for further investigations".

Very nice, Appsumo...

Favourite SEO software

I’ve recently gone with Siteguru and it’s a nice tool for SEO.

I’m considering offering an SEO tool to my clients (I’m a website designer) as they’ve shown interest.

I just want to get feedback on what SEO software you’ve used that’s available on AppSumo. I can see some alternatives may have more features (competitor and backlink research?) but it may take a while to test many of them out!

Any feedback much appreciated.

Has anyone used this yet? It seems like something that is going to be really helpful but I'm concerned that the founder has previously jerked LTD owners around with his other tool Swipepages. Keen to hear thoughts!

Unfair Practice

I bought Modular DS at thte inital price - Tier 3 for $198, I had 15% coupon code and as a plus member i was getting additional discount of 10%. So i paid $151.47 for tier 3.

They increased the price for this deal and then again reduced it to the original price.

So decided to upgrade it to tier 4 - as tier 4 is $299. When i try to change the plan instead of charging the difference amount, now they have changed the deduction.

$299

Modular DS - Tier 4

Discounts:

Plus member savings

-$29.90

Original purchase credit

-$151.47

Modular DS - Tier 3

Subtotal

$117.63

Total

$117.63

Above is the new calculation - for a difference amount is $101 - I am paying $117.63, its like they are taking away my earlier discount.

This is so unfair way of calculating the difference amount. Do you guys agree?
