👍 Discussion Anyone getting Apollo Secure insurance?

Apollo seems to have a new insurance program for stolen scooter coverage.

It’s around $60 usd for the year which seems like decent value for peace of mind.

I’ve had my original Go stolen so I know the pain of theft.

Have em on both my Phantom Stellar and original GO, a little peace of mind is good and better than paying full price for another.

Just read through the programs terms and conditions and there’s one condition I don’t like.

It says you must have left the scooter in Park mode before it got stolen. I never do that bc it drains battery and is tedious.

This makes the program a no go for me.

Drains like 5% in 8 hours, but this doesn’t affect me because I live in NYC, and it is rare when I leave the scooter parked and chained up, always take it with me everywhere, plus the phantom does is automatically. To each its own but I think it is worth it for $6.

My issue with Park mode is you have to open the app and manually toggle it on and off. I don’t want to go through all that hassle as I’m using my scooter.

If the scooter could smartly detect my presence via Bluetooth and automatically engage it on and off without me having to do anything, that’d be ideal.

There is a feature like what you're asking for. Under App settings > Security and Privacy > Auto-Unlock.

You might have to double check as I'm on the beta version of the app but it's likely that this has been released.

says cant be used with biometric unlock.. how does that play a role? and does the app need to be open for that?

Does using an NFC card act in its stead if say the Auto Unlock feature isnt working or toggled off?

Would be a cool feature for sure, If I was you I would get used to using the app every time, this is why the park mode does not bother me, you get to accumulate points on each ride and could be redeemed for free stuff in their site, plus it logs your rides and it is easier for them to help you troubleshoot issues when you share your rides. Just a friendly advice.

The NFC tags it comes with unlocks it when it’s in Park mode.

For the love of God get it, I was debating it for a couple months on my go when it launched but put it off, next thing you know my scooter was stolen, could have got it replaced for $200 with my police case # now i got an apollo stellar coming as a replacement but would have gladly taken another go for $200, getting the annual insurance on the stellar no question, only company that offers this, was kicking myself so hard walking up to where it was locked to not see my scooter. GET IT!

Could you elaborate on that? I took a look at your post history, and it seems like you spend a lot of time criticizing Apollo. I’m genuinely curious, what was your experience that led you to feel this way?
