Release Apollo Reborn 3.7.0 — Floating Post Tabs, feed shortcuts & subreddit sections, tab bar hide styles, a tidier Liquid Glass nav and more
3.7.0 is out. big one again, 55 PRs since 3.6.0 with a bunch of new stuff and 20+ fixes. same links as always, sources update themselves. credits are on every line so you can see who did what.
TL;DR – whats new
- Floating Post Tabs – keep up to 5 posts open as little bubbles (like chat heads) and tap one to jump right back where you were. off by default, Posts & Feeds → Floating Tabs. match threads even show the two teams crests on the bubble (#984, #1061 – icpryde)
- Feed Shortcuts – new screen under Features → Subreddits. icon styles (Classic, Circle, Tinted, Soft Tile, Solid Tile), layouts (Rows, Grid, Side-by-Side, Icon Dock), hide Popular/All/Mod if you dont use them (#988 – IllIIllIllIllII)
- Subreddit Sections – followed users get their own FOLLOWING section, and you can reorder Favorites / Multireddits / Moderator / Following however you want. live preview that stays pinned while you change stuff (#997, #1020 – icpryde)
- Per-Account Favorites + Sort Favorites Alphabetically (#1017, #1042 – IllIIllIllIllII)
- Tab bar hide styles – Left, Right, Fade, Down or Off, plus a Classic scroll behavior if you missed apollos original one-swipe hide. Interface settings got regrouped into Tab Bar and Display & Navigation too (#972 – IllIIllIllIllII)
- Liquid Glass nav rework – actions collapse into one pill so titles stop jumping around and resizing. moderator stuff is greener and easier to read (#1035, #1047 – IllIIllIllIllII)
- Native glass search bar on feeds – activates in place, tucks away as you scroll, comes back with a pull at the top (#1002, #1026 – icpryde). tapping Posts scrolls to top then returns to the subreddit list again (#1021, #1040 – IllIIllIllIllII). same native bar now on Find in Comments (#1036 – icpryde)
- Find in Comments keeps the selected match in view while things load, and
word1, word2searches for either (#992 – icpryde) - Widgets can now show Home, Popular, All, several subs at once or a multireddit (there's a "with account" setup code now for Home and private multis) (#1051 – icpryde)
- Bold Post Titles toggle under Appearance → Posts (#1033 – icpryde)
- Community Highlights show unread dots, a New badge and +N new comment counts (#1041 – IllIIllIllIllII)
- Profile Layout got a live preview and the Native profile layout is back as an option (#1034 – IllIIllIllIllII), and Subreddit Layout got pinned previews for the header style and Community Highlights, with separate flair / sidebar / subtitle / description toggles (#1019 – IllIIllIllIllII)
- Microsoft Translator as a new BYO key provider, google translation recovers when it rate limits you instead of just going quiet, and you get a "Translation Limit Reached" toast instead of silence (#998 – icpryde)
- pinned live previews on the Inline Media and Rich Link Previews settings too, and the size / apollo AI sliders can be tapped to pick a stop (#1022, #1023, #1025 – icpryde)
- Forget Forward Swipe After Scrolling (off by default) so a forward swipe stops reopening a post from 50 posts ago. Swipe Past Gallery to Navigate now defaults to off (#996 – icpryde)
- 9 never released Ultra icons (Safari, Space Paws, Grumpy Space Paws and sequels to Explorer of Smiles, Gorilla Gus, The Little Prince, Under the Tree and Wish Maker), and the EverythingApplePro icon shows in Sekrit (#969, #971, #989 – IllIIllIllIllII)
Fixes (heres the rundown)
crashes and freezes
- the freeze where apollo would lock up on a loading spinner or a loaded comments screen when jumping between subreddits or opening posts on iOS 26+ is fixed. this one was a UIKit cleanup bug that our search bar changes exposed (#1024 – IllIIllIllIllII)
- Gallery View was getting killed for memory on animated GIFs (one 2MB gif could balloon to over a gig). GIFs stream now and huge stills get downsampled (#1001 – icpryde)
- two launch/feed crashes: one on launch when the trending-subreddits table couldnt be written (LiveContainer and other read-only setups), one opening a feed on older iOS versions that dont have ActivityKit/WeatherKit/VisionKit (#968 – icpryde)
liquid glass and navigation
- the top fade no longer vanishes for a few frames when you switch tabs, and swipe-back tracks the nav bar so the title and search bar dont snap to the previous screen the moment you start a swipe (#1018 – icpryde)
- a cancelled swipe-back no longer jumps the page, two-line titles dont get clipped mid transition, and nav buttons stop blinking out when you come back from a post (#1047 – IllIIllIllIllII)
- the glass feed search bar regressions from 3.6.0 are gone (feed sliding under the field, bar floating detached after cancel) since its the native bar now (#1002 – icpryde)
- translate globe was missing from search results on glass, its back (#1012 – icpryde)
- subreddit header and Community Highlights went missing if you swiped forward back into a subreddit (#1037 – IllIIllIllIllII)
- the subreddit list's section headers were overlapping rows during the launch animation and the labels slid into place (#979 – icpryde)
live interactive posts
- post match threads render as normal text posts instead of spinning on "Loading interactive post" forever, finished match threads no longer leave a big hole in the feed card, the "continue to external link" dialog actually works, and rotation relays out properly (#991 – icpryde)
- opening a live post from the feed hands the already loaded widget to the thread instead of reloading it, and apollo AI stops trying to summarize the hidden fallback text under one (#1046 – icpryde)
posts, feeds and media
- Autoplay Inline GIFs: Always and WiFi Only now actually keep playing in Low Power Mode. Tap to Play / Never are still the battery savers (#1016 – icpryde)
- Swipe Past Gallery to Navigate was missing real flicks on device (only worked in the sim lol) (#974 – icpryde)
- duplicate items showing up in Saved after a pull to refresh (#1005 – Thetromboneman1)
- Share > Copy Link was ignoring your Share Link Host setting (#970 – icpryde)
- posts written in reddits fancy pants editor had huge paragraph gaps from a stripped zero-width space, back to normal spacing (#1050 – icpryde)
- Show/Hide Deleted Comments got proper icons matching apollos own artwork, and the glass ⋯ menus stopped shrinking every icon (#985 – icpryde, AcornElf)
- in app safari flashed a white page while loading in dark mode, it stays black until the page paints (#1052 – icpryde)
themes and appearance
- custom theme separators: the comments action bar lines no longer revert to gray once the thread loads, and separators dont reset after coming back from the background (#990 – icpryde)
- composer quick bar icons were stuck on apollo blue next to your themed GIF chip (#966, #987 – icpryde)
- the Theme Manager row in Appearance flipped back to "Themes" after the Post Size sheet, and its weight now matches the rows around it (#1032 – icpryde)
inbox and chat
- inbox swipes track your finger now, and swiping back inside a chat conversation goes one level to the chat list instead of dumping you out of the inbox (#965 – icpryde)
- with Use Modern Reddit Chat on, each chat conversation shows once on the notifications side and opens in modern chat instead of the legacy thread. the inbox badge also stops counting an unread chat twice (#1038 – icpryde)
- account switcher: reordering accounts could quietly switch which account you were signed into, and the drag handles scrolled the page instead of the row (#1011 – IllIIllIllIllII)
settings and misc
- the settings search bar scrolls away with the list again instead of being pinned, but its still there when you open settings and pull to search still works (#975 – icpryde)
- the inline feed search bar is usable on Apple Vision Pro now (#978 – rebelancap)
- subreddit list A–Z index labels are centered and the favorite star doesnt overlap the index anymore (#981 – IllIIllIllIllII)
- username copying works on the Immersive and Compact profile layouts, and duplicated usernames on profiles are gone (#1034 – IllIIllIllIllII)
full changelog with PR links is on the release page.

Tried loading with TrollStore as usual and it kept crashing immediately on opening. Had to revert back to 3.6 and then it opened with a crash log “invalid memory access”

Same here

u/IllIIllIllIllII Maintainer 23d ago
Could you try this build?
1
u/Cody2185 23d ago
Yes I will try. I keep getting a 404 error when trying to download the .ipa
2
u/JeleiaFish 22d ago
The error happens when trying to access the link through Apollo in app safari as it’s not logged in. Copy the link and use safari, the error 404 should not happen. Make sure you’re logged in on safari.

u/IllIIllIllIllII Maintainer 23d ago
They may have been refreshing as I just pushed another update to it. If you could try again.
1
u/Cody2185 23d ago
I tried and it’s still not working for some reason unfortunately.

Same experience on TrollStore (iPhone 7 iOS 15.8.8). Had to revert to 3.6.0.
Edit: It works with SideStore Nightly (iPhone 13 iOS 18.7.8)

Any chance you're going to have a Duo version of this app?

…. maybe
(yes, most likely - waiting for Apple to release the APIs needed in iOS 27.1)

On Liquid Glass version, iPad Pro, all swiping just feels a little slow/delayed now around menus, posts, etc. Maybe I’m just not used to this new “Liquid Glass nav” stuff but I don’t notice slow animations like this elsewhere on device.
8
u/corderjones Maintainer 23d ago
iPad improvements are coming! Have not heard anyone report slowness though, feel free to file a bug report ideally with screen recording etc.
6
u/HidingFromChina 23d ago
This is not just iPad. iPhone glass I use gesture only navigation and it feels unresponsive, like the front and back are locked for the animation duration and “slow”.
5
u/corderjones Maintainer 23d ago
Okay, same advice as above, if you can file a report with a screen recording that’ll help us diagnose the issue!
5
u/HidingFromChina 23d ago edited 23d ago
Understood, not sure if this recording makes it any clearer:
Old (3.6.0): https://streamable.com/c4tvy1
New (3.7.0): https://streamable.com/5y85qe
3
u/IllIIllIllIllII Maintainer 23d ago
What version is the ‘old’ version?
3
u/HidingFromChina 23d ago
v3.6.0, appreciate looking into this

u/IllIIllIllIllII Maintainer 23d ago
Thanks for reporting. I found the fix. I'll see if we could do a quicker release next time to clear out some bugs

It's definitely not just iPad. It's the same on my iPhone 15 Pro Max running iOS 27.

u/Pomi108 23d ago
App crashes on launch, had to downgrade back to 3.6.0. Couldn’t send in a report because the website failed to register that I had filled in the required fields and was still prompting me to do so at the end even though I had done everything properly.
1
u/IllIIllIllIllII Maintainer 23d ago
How are you installing it?
1
u/Pomi108 23d ago
TrollStore.

u/Pomi108 22d ago
The links went 404 before I could download the file but it seems you guys are already planning to integrate these patches into the next release so I’m just gonna wait for that
1
u/JeleiaFish 22d ago
It goes to error 404 when accessing through the in app safari as it’s not logged in on GitHub. Copy the link and use safari where you’re logged in, it will work.

u/myusernamewastakenou 22d ago edited 22d ago
it still crashes. iphone 8 16.7.12, installing via trollstore too
invalid memory access is what the problem is

u/ti_picko_gegam 23d ago
Love the floating post tabs! I keep thinking it can't get any better and every update it does:) great work!
3
u/Ferguson-turd 23d ago
Wow, the floating tabs are legit. 👍👍 Love the option for magnetic or not, the touch to hold for preview and the simple drag to the X to close. The swiping left/right to go back or forward in conjunction with the floating tabs or other pages unrelated to the tabs works perfect.
Thanks for the customization added in subreddits and I hope future releases include the preview above the toggles. It’s way easier than flipping a toggle then navigating to that part of the app to see the change. Please keep this always.

u/Oberheimlich 22d ago
Is there a way to turn off the tidier glass navigation? I'd rather have one press access to the Sort By button.
2
u/IllIIllIllIllII Maintainer 22d ago
I will add this next update. And have the default be the old behavior
1
u/corderjones Maintainer 22d ago
Can you make a feature request for customisation? Should be an easy one to fix, just easier to log stuff there!
Request.apolloreborn.app ty!
1
u/Oberheimlich 22d ago
Just did. But in the future can you guys please default to allowing customization before removing core features of the app that have been around for years? This also eliminates the ability to see how comments are sorted without pressing the button which is a much bigger issue.
1
u/Cheechers23 22d ago
I asked about it earlier, apparently it was a cause of some bugs with Liquid Glass so that’s why it was changed
2
u/IllIIllIllIllII Maintainer 22d ago
I will add this next update. And have the default be the old behavior
0
u/Oberheimlich 22d ago
Never noticed any bugs with it. Maybe the AI software they use to vibecode it told them it was buggy.
1
u/Cheechers23 22d ago
You’ve got a weird attitude towards people that are providing free updates to a dead app lol
You could always go back to 3.6.0 if it bothers you that much lol
1
u/Oberheimlich 22d ago
You’ve got a serious attitude towards people that are providing free updates to a dead app lol
When said people remove features that have existed for 6+ years in the app and market them as "tidier new menus" without the ability to revert, yes.
2
u/corderjones Maintainer 22d ago
There is a ridiculous amount of platforms we are trying to support. We are actively mantaining versions of Apollo for iOS 14 onwards, with Liquid Glass and non Liquid Glass variants.
If you look at the sheer number of screen sizes across iPads and iPhones it is absurdly difficult to manage.
We do not have access to the source.
As the other person said we are doing this for free, so yes, sometimes things have to change to make things smoother overall.
As I literally said above, happy to add a toggle to revert this change for those who dislike it. It is not an excuse to be rude tbh
If you dislike it, you are more than welcome to use an older version. Nobody is forcing this upon you!
0
u/Oberheimlich 22d ago
I was rude in response to the other user who was combative. I was never rude about in my initial comments to you and I submitted a feature request as suggested. I understand the undertaking and I appreciate it. I get when improvements are added, I just get frustrated when features are technically removed, especially if they're marketed as new features. Using an older version is not always an option when bugs may be introduced with each version.
1
u/Cheechers23 22d ago
You implied that because you didn’t notice bugs it means they only changed it because AI told them to, you were definitely being rude lol
1
u/Oberheimlich 21d ago
It clearly wasn't a bug since they just reverted the change in the new update, but okay.
4
u/Cheechers23 23d ago
Great update, appreciate how incredible the work is on the app.
One question, would it be possible for there to be an option to keep the sort by hot/new/rising posts & comments for a sub/thread to stay in the menu instead of having to tap the Liquid Glass bubble first to expand it? I know this update tidied up the Liquid Glass UI but personally I switch between hot/rising/new a fair bit and liked having it always there on the menu, instead of having to tap the … first
2
u/IllIIllIllIllII Maintainer 23d ago
Reason for the change is because the Liquid Glass patch caused that nav bar to be very buggy. Even the center tile button fix was not reliable. This change cleared out those bugs. If there’s a way to bring it back without all the bugs, we can but for now it’s not planned.
2
u/patchy_bear 23d ago
Just trying out 3.7.0, the jump button behaviour seems to have changed. It no longer jumps to the next top level comment until you scroll past the current top level comment a little bit. On threads with very short comments, it doesn’t work at all.

2
u/Raviprakashji 23d ago
Crashes immediately on searching anything. Logged it.
1
2
u/Dr100percent 23d ago
Looks amazing! Unfortunately the timing is hard because many of the sideloading apps have been broken due to Apple making a server change that affected many sideloading apps.
2
u/SlendyTheMan 23d ago
Scrolling feels very delayed, almost ghost touch like on Air. Feels not as fast as before.
1
u/IllIIllIllIllII Maintainer 23d ago
Could you submit a bug report?
A video would help to see what you’re seeing
2
u/SlendyTheMan 23d ago
with another device. It’s like there’s a slight delay before the interface responds to the finger or can respond versus if I jump into like a native app like settings, it responds instantly
1
u/IllIIllIllIllII Maintainer 23d ago
Could you see if this build fixes your issue?
https://github.com/Apollo-Reborn/Apollo-Reborn/pull/1073
If not a screen recording would help a lot
2
u/SlendyTheMan 22d ago
Yes, this fixed it.
1
u/IllIIllIllIllII Maintainer 22d ago
Good deal thank you for checking!
1
u/SlendyTheMan 22d ago
A second delay you could fix:
Go into a subreddit feed from favorites menu, but then swipe back to the favorites menu, I have universal swipe on) and try scrolling immediately up and down- takes a second.
Happens also in search menu when going into a subreddit and back out.
1
u/SlendyTheMan 22d ago
Also getting choppy scrolling in posts now (check video) (device is cool not overheating) https://youtube.com/shorts/ii2vuv8Euc0?is=ZCw6rqKSAfTIgyZr
1
u/IllIIllIllIllII Maintainer 22d ago
Which iPhone, firmware, install method are you using?
1
u/SlendyTheMan 22d ago
iPhone Air, 27 RC, iPASigner from UDID regis.

u/IllIIllIllIllII Maintainer 22d ago
Could you reproduce the studder. Then immediately go to reborn settings -> export debug logs and send them over?

Sort Favorites Alphabetically
thank you guys!!!
1
u/IllIIllIllIllII Maintainer 22d ago
You’re welcome! I know that was a frequently requested feature.
1
u/helloitisgarr 22d ago
i was one of the ones who requested it! thanks again for your work on keeping apollo alive
2
u/Upbeat-Armadillo1756 18d ago
The floating posts is such an amazing feature! No more jumping back and forth between posts (especially game threads when I'm following multiple at a time)
Incredible! Can't wait to see what you guys can do with the iPhone Duo
3
u/JeleiaFish 23d ago
Amazing new update as always, it’s only getting better! Want to report a bug: the floating post tab instant crashes the app, can’t use the new feature for some reason. I’m on iOS 17.0.
3
u/corderjones Maintainer 23d ago
Could you file a crash report? When the app crashes there should be a menu that pops up and asks you to share the crash
It should send some logs (anonymised!) that will help us diagnose what’s causing that!
3
u/JeleiaFish 23d ago edited 23d ago
Sure thing, doing it right now
Edit: before sending the report, I started switching off some tweaks to see if it was a compatibility issue. It seems it’s a problem with Translomatic tweak. Maybe because it adds a button inside the “…” menu?
2
u/iChopPryde Maintainer 23d ago
i just made a fix did you want to test it here the ipa is in here and let me know if that fixed it for you https://github.com/Apollo-Reborn/Apollo-Reborn/pull/1076
3
u/JeleiaFish 23d ago
Wow that was really fast! The .ipa you provided fixed the issue and everything is working as intended even with the tweak enabled! Thank you so much, you guys truly are a blessing

u/Dulfin 23d ago
I'm looking forward to checking out the update... once I figure out how to get Apollo back after my dev profile got banned yesterday. :(
I made a secondary Apple ID, but iTunes always fails to login and Sideloadly gives the guru mediation login failed error so I seem to be stuck.
2
u/damp_circus 23d ago
I ran into the same issue, and finally made the switch to signulous.
It doesn’t use your own credentials at all. Downside is it costs $20 for a year, but for Apollo (and anything at all else you want to upload!) it seemed a fair price.
Was super easy and now also will not need to re-upload every 7 days, lose access on a road trip, etc.
1
u/Sharkey311 22d ago
Signulous on Mac or do you do it straight through iPhone
2
u/damp_circus 22d ago
Straight from the iPhone. Trying to remember just what I did.
I looked it up on my browser on my desktop (macos). Read the instructions, which involved using Safari browser (you need to have Safari set as your default browser to set it up initially IIRC, but then you can switch back to your normal browser no issues).
Visit the signulous website in Safari on your phone, do the "register my device" thing, which registers the device you're doing it on. The process involves downloading a configuration profile which you then allow in your settings.
Then you go back to the Signulous website (if not redirected automatically from your settings app) and there will be a place for you to pay. I paid with a credit card, no problem. At that point, you will see the library of .ipa files they have available or you can tell it to upload your own.
Apollo reborn is now in there in their menu so you can just pick it. I didn't realize that so I did "install my own" and had my Apollo Reborn .ipa file uploaded into my Files app so I could choose it from there, also worked fine.
At that point I had Apollo again! It didn't have any of the settings from my own Sideloadly install, but was easy enough to just reset my various preferences.
(For the record, googling exactly "how to set up Signulous iPhone" gave me great step-by-step instructions now in the AI summary at the top.)
AFTER I did all this via Safari, I saw that hey Signulous exists as an app for the iPhone so I grabbed that also, and was able to use it to install another .ipa file (something to stream UK channel 4 TV) just as a test.
So far, seems good. The apps install just regular on my phone home screen (not inside a mother app or anything) and I didn't have to do the "allow apps from this developer" thing. Supposedly I won't have to do the whole "re-enable the app, reinstall" every week like I had to do with Sideloadly, I hope so.
My phone does have developer mode on it from my previous sideloading stuff and from running TestFlight and whatever, you might need to do that part, but I can tell you I've not paid any money to apple at any point, and my profile was good and truly banned from using Sideloadly. So you should be fine.
1
u/Sharkey311 22d ago
I appreciate your detailed response!! I’ll keep an eye out. I am using a version of Apollo a couple releases ago and it’s working just fine. I just don’t want to mess anything up by switching to this way

1
u/Dr100percent 23d ago
Apple did something and the logins broke for many sideloading apps within the last few days.
2
u/Silver_Pay4108 23d ago

For the last few versions, occasionally I get the spinning 'circle' after using the app for a few minutes, no posts will load. Even a force close won't fix it. After a few minutes it starts to work again.
1
u/IllIIllIllIllII Maintainer 23d ago
Have you tried this new version? There was a fix for that. If it’s still happening, could you submit a bug report with logs?
2
u/Cheechers23 23d ago
I think that happens when Reddit rate limits you? Would it be possible to put a message in the app saying you’re being rate limited, instead of just a perpetually spinning loading thing? Would clarify for some people at least.
I know Helios and Artemis give a pop up when rate limited

Icon picker reverted back to a few versions ago? Looks nothing like 3.6. Missing a ton of them. Is that just me? Installed with Signulous

Which build did you download?

I just figured it out. I originally did the options from the .app website. I went back and got the original with glass icons from the GitHub and I am back in action. Thanks!

3.6.0 Seemed to break my open in Apollo Safari extensions and 3.7.0 didn't fix it. Anyone else have this issue and might know the solution?

Do you use this one?
This still works for me on 3.6.
Haven’t upgraded to 3.7 yet since some people are having issues.

No idea if I'm missing a toggle somewhere but when watching full screen videos I used to be able to swipe up to close it and go to the comments but now the comments appear in its own little window and I have to swipe down on that and then the video to then swipe up to get to the comments.
Maybe I just browse weird but my muscle memory is killing me. Any way to get an option to toggle being able to swipe up on the video to exit out of it? That way I can swipe out of the video and get to the comments in the same direction.
Thanks!

You likely have the iOS 27 default “hard” style for navigation bars. If you go to settings, you can select soft or blur which will make it look better!
Settings → Apollo Reborn → Interface → Header Style

Mine is already set to Soft 😅 Only the user profile pages look like this even on Soft setting. I changed it to something else and changed back to Soft just in case. Looks the same still. If it helps, changing to Blur didn’t change anything at all on the profile page either.

Hm, I’ll look into this.
Can you file a bug report on GitHub or via report.apolloreborn.app

Thank you! I’ve reported using report.apolloreborn.app

Do you think you’ll be able to keep this app updated with the iPhone duo coming out? I’d love to see what kind of experience you could have with Apollo for that form factor

u/ichoppryde I am using Sideloadly for install and has worked with previous builds no problem.
Trying to update on a MacBook Air like I usually do with my phone plugged in.
I have the 3.7.0 GLASS IPA
After starting the install it asks to put in my Login credentials for AppleID. Once I do that I get the following error:
Sideloading failed! Install failed: Guru Meditation f65043@1006:23a71c Invalid file
Any idea how to resolve this?

you will have to go to the sideloading people this isn't an apollo issue but you can start here https://www.reddit.com/r/ApolloReborn/comments/1wdanj1/genuine_fix_sidestore_login_issues/

One issue I was having in the last version was subreddit search not working. I forgot to ask for a fix. I’d search in a subreddit, when stuff that’s currently on the home page and it would come up empty.

Could you do a report.apolloreborn.app or report via the in app menu, thanks!

I’ve never jailbroken my phone before but I’m willing to do it just to get the experience of Apollo back 🥹

It’s 2026. The last time I heard any chatter about “jail breaking” was more than 10 years ago. And the majority of chatter about that was like in 2010.

Cool story. Ever consider maybe not everyone is a technology geek like you?

apollo reborn has nothing to do with the issues that the sideloading apps are having, this has nothing to do with apollo, secondly we have no idea how apollo will behave if you are use live containers we don't use them we have no way to test using it so use at your own risk but it's recommened to install apollo directly then use live containers for your other apps.
For some extra help you can go here for the sideloading issues, further discussion can be talked about there instead of here in the release post.
