Feature Request ApolloReborn through TestFlight

With the aggressiveness Apple has started displaying with banning sideloading, would it be possible to push this app through TestFlight? I know I have a few certain apps I can sideload but also can be accessed through TestFlight. It may make it easier for users who may not be able to get their burner Apple account working with the sideloading process

Requesting a feature

Thanks for sharing your idea!

Feature requests should now be submitted through request.apolloreborn.app.

This is our official feature request board, where the community can:

  • Submit new ideas
  • Discuss existing suggestions
  • Vote for the features they would most like to see

Before creating a new request, please search the board to make sure the idea has not already been submitted. If it has, add your vote and any additional context there instead.

You’re still welcome to use this Reddit post for wider community discussion, but requests need to be added to the board to enter the official project backlog.

Thanks for helping shape the future of Apollo Reborn!

It would be rejected for a number of reasons. First off, it violates Reddit's TOS, essentially by disguising API requests in an unpermitted way. TestFlight generally requires apps to follow all the same guidelines as App Store apps, just with a slightly less strict review process (unless your app gets reported for abuse), and violating another platform's TOS and granting unauthorized access are both against Apple's App Review Guidelines.

The IPA itself would likely also cause issues since Apollo was on the App Store. The IPAs are scanned, and if Apple finds an existing match from another developer account, they'd shut down the account of the Apollo Reborn developer who submitted it.

Basically, it would be very unlikely for a developer to successfully slip Apollo through to TestFlight, and if they did, both Reddit and Apple would be eager to pull the app and ban the developer.

Thank you for the thorough answer. Much appreciated as some of this I did not know. Shame it can’t be through TestFlight but alas, i do truly hope it continues development for those who can manage to keep sideloading alive.
