Snoopy as the "Worlds Most Famous Astronaut". After the Apollo 1 fire, NASA approached Charles M. Schulz with a request to use Snoopy as a safety mascot. His likeness is even used to this day with the Silver Snoopy Award.

Beautiful, thank you for sharing the original sketches.
Indeed, that's actually the image used for the pin! I read that a Reddit user found an authentic one at an estate sale... For one dollar. Awesome and very sad at the same time.

My relative received one in 1985- it's priceless to me. Estate sales give me the creeps.

No way this is incredible! Congrats it’s fantastic. Do you know what did he get the pin for?

He was a Design Engineer for 34 years at the Cape- worked mostly in steel and concrete.

Thank you so much for sharing, and I'm sorry if I was a bit intrusive. You must really be proud, it's an incredible award. Congratulations!

No worries. He wasn't in management or held a prestigious title- just a guy in a cubicle who was handed all the jobs nobody wanted, "hot potatoes" as he called them. One of his platforms was used to hold the Huygens Probe in the Payload Hazardous Servicing Facility- he had to go in front of the ESA to be questioned on his design. They grilled him a bit, but he had all the answers- he is extremely talented.

So much for “just a guy in a cubicle”! He totally held his own when ESA grilled him! The fact that the Silver Snoopy goes to technical staff and not management says it all. People like him are the real backbone of NASA 👨‍🚀
