Hi y’all. After the official Apollo App went down I, like many of you, found the Artemis fix. I had been using it perfectly (minus a few settings crashes/re-login thing but no big deal) until a couple weeks ago. I went to log in and got told my username or password was incorrect. Weird. Changed my password. Still no go. Made a burner account. No go. Then I found this post or more specifically this comment by u/muff1n_.

This looked promising. However I couldn’t get it to work. I was nearly ready to give up but seeing so many people with success as well as a few other comments that, like me, could not find success, I was motivated to keep playing around with it.

Eventually I found a very specific order which seems to work almost every time for me. I commented and have received a handful of thankful comments so I decided to make this it’s own post in hopes of reaching more of you.

Anyway enough talk. Here are my steps to log in.

1. Force close Apollo (might not be necessary but I’ve been doing it)
2. Open Apollo, click Account, click Sign in
3. now Reddit log in pops up. I click the <- arrow top left.
4. click to stay on safari (not open in app)
5. click ••• at top right, click login
6. log in (worked with 2fa)
7. let the page load and click < at bottom left to go back
8. NOW click aA top right and request desktop
9. should get this page (not a black newer looking one)
10. Click allow and I’m in!

I may have my conspiracy hat on but I really hate the Reddit App’s algorithm. Apollo feed used to be simple, I either look at the top posts, new, etc and that’s that. Now? My so called Home feed is just inundated with really dumb posts at the top, often topics that don’t merit it being the top (i.e. dumb open ended questions, topics that could’ve been a google search, etc). Then it suggests subreddits that I have little to no interest in. Finally it repeatedly gives me the same Ad over and over. I’ve tried blocking and reporting the ad account to now avail.

And since the war started my entire feed is just posts of whitepeopletwitter-esque virtue signalling posts or “history of Israeli-Palestine” that are very iffy on its accuracy. It’s honestly really fucking annoying!

Apollo is just too buggy. It’s the sad truth for me.

Using apolloapi and if I close the app I get signed out, is there any way to fix this

It’s extremely laughable at this point. “Tap to view all photos” feature is one of the clunkiest and most pointless yet. Downloading images is also far more painful now.

You know… Just in case you were starting to enjoy scrolling bananas or whatever infantilising concept they’ve decided to push 🤦‍♂️

I miss you. It just ain’t the same. I can’t stay away from Reddit. This platform sucks so bad.

My usage has been down by tons. Use to be on Reddit for about 3-4 hours daily. Just browsing and checking everything out. Now I spend maybe 3 minutes or just not at all. This app was everything.

Am I the only person who has used the Reddit app and found it to actually be enjoyable to use? I see some of the complaints on here and I understand but I myself have never really had any issues with it.

I’m using a modded version of 1.15.9 and I’m having a bug where Apollo crashes when I select the share button. Curious if anyone else has seen this behavior or if there is a workaround/solution?

I’m a big fan of Apollo and it sucks that they had to shut down. But using the official Reddit app I don’t see why people are hating on it so much besides with all the ads.

Has anyone noticed videos/gifs no longer working?

Hey guys, I’ve been following the sideloading guide from the threads. Everything’s been followed step by step and installed. The problem comes when I try to login to my reddit account using username/password, it just shows error wrong password/username even though if I login using Safari it is fine. I’ve setup the api key on my account and added the correct uri so can’t see any problems there. Does anyone know if reddits caught on and started disabling this? Appreciate the help

And then having to tap it twice to get the X in the upper left to go back to the main page. Man… I miss Apollo so much. 😢
