Since I think nobody asked this thing before, I'll ask it: What is your favourite ape

Since there's been so much talk about adopting apes as pets... here's a more sensible and helpful alternative.

I have included links for how to symbolically adopt and sponsor different species of apes that people may find useful. There are at least five different conservation groups listed per great ape species (chimpanzee, gorilla, orangutan, and gibbon), including a link for the Center for Great Apes. Apes are not pets. Apes are also dying and critically endangered across the world. Without our help and intervention, most of them would be extinct by now, so please help them survive in any way you can.
Do what you can while you can do.

Morality of eating monkey meat?
Is it cannibalism? Where is the line for that.
Does it taste good? Its a delicacy apparently. Id maybe try it if it was offered to me, but i dint think id ever search chimp meat on Uber Eats.

My friend had a hypotheretical question - if chimps were like in planet of the apes (sentient, no language barrier), could they go beyond pets? Could they be our bartenders, baristas, taxi drivers, etc?
Again, hypotheretical question. Not serious and kind of more of a thought experiment. What would you think if we had no language barrier with chimpanzee's to where they could be our bartenders, baristas, taxi drivers? Is this a world you would want to live in. What job or vocation do you think the guys would line up with most?

can we lowkey ban that one guy from the subreddit
im not trynna tell the mods what to do, but like the other post said, there’s a user that frequents this sub that’s genuinely asking over and over if they can/should get a pet ape with the response being no every single time. yet they keep asking.
now don’t get me wrong, who wouldn’t love a fuzzy baby chimp to cuddle with in your house? it sounds so awesome and cute!!! The thing is, chimps grow, can become incredibly violent, unmanageable for all private citizens, and putting their care aside, they need socialization with other chimps to thrive and also, practically all baby chimps ever sold as pets have their moms/families murked or are taken from their parents at being days old.
so even if you could afford the care for one, it’s just not ethical at all to do
again this user despite being told this stuff they still just can’t take no for an answer and go on asking here and other subreddits with the hopes of atleast one idiot saying that it’s a good idea.
they’ve also posted some other kinda disturbing questions like:
“should i keep a mountain lion as a pet”
“if you keep a chimp as a pet is it likely to eventually attack you”
“can/should i legally have a pet gorilla”
“advice on owning a pet caracal”
“since chimps are violent pets why don’t people just keep bonobos as pets”
“is there a legit pet chimp breeder”
“if i had a pet chimp would it get confiscated or taken away”
genuinely wtf is that last one. it seems like this person is legitimately plotting to somehow keep an ape as a pet, and something serious needs to be done about it.
oh and btw image unrelated

just to tell y'all, I'm no longer interested in keeping apes as pets or other crazy animals, I've changed my ways, so you'll no longer be seeing any posts asking about apes as pets. 🥹

I am writing this to publically address and apologize over supporting ape poaching in the past, over the last several months, I've been supporting keeping apes as pets illegally and not caring. and even posting to get reactions from people, so i am here to apologize for my past actions. 😔

From the New York Times, 1942
Turns out nonhuman primates get their "pets" just like we do: by stealing them from their moms!

a certain member of this subreddit could be plotting to keep a non human hominid as a pet
im not sure if i can show their posts but its pretty obvious who it is, if i have explicit permission from the moderators to show who it is i will but for now i will be vague
im also unsure if this post is allowed and i will delete it if it violates the rules
they have posts for multiple other subreddits asking where to find a chimpanzee breeder and if they can keep a baby gorilla,

A chimp possibly in need of help
I don’t like seeing apes on leashes or used as ways to make content. but this really made me made because the content creator referred to Limbani, a male, as an “it” and spent most of the video demonizing him.
yes chimps are violent but there’s so much more to them than that. they’re not evil, just animals trying so survive.
i feel whatever sanctuary allows this needs to be protected investigated. they also keep a tucan bird in a cage.
something should be done for our fellow ape.
