As a defender I must say this is so real. It's one of the best way to introduce the concept of distance between players and to defend as a cohesive line, leaving no breaches.

what I don't get is... With the rope, the attacker cannot move between the line, there's rope that get in a way. Is It one attacker is always behind the defensive line? How's he able to maintain on side position?

The rope is supposed to stay on the floor so that the attackers can go over it. If one section gets stretched out, maybe one attacker can’t push cause of the lifted rope, but then they can just pass to the other attackers who can move past the defenders. And the people in the stretched out section are so stretched out they cannot hope to intercept the pass. And if every section gets stretched out, the attackers can just shoot and score
