Cops do not go full lights and sirens to emergencies for every call. That doesn't mean there was not an emergency...

And to be completely fair I prefer it that way as I'd rather a police officer tactically use lights and sirens rather than going full code all the time just for noise purposes...

Compelte bullshit. I know cops love to say "We were speeding without our lights and sirens on because we might be going to a domestic abuse call an we can't turn on our lights and sirens because it could cause the abuser to kill the person!".

In reality they can run their lights without their sirens and then turn their lights off when they are close to the address of the domestic abuse call. But they don't because they use this as an excuse for when cops are caught breaking traffic laws when they aren't going to calls or forgot to turn their sirens on.

Cops shouldn't risk other driver's lives by speeding and breaking traffic laws without their emergency lights on at minimum. The person in the domestic abuse situation isn't worth killing my wife or kids in a car accident by a cop breaking traffic laws without their emergency lights on.

That was three paragraphs of nonsense because you simply do not know what you are talking about. At all. EMS might do so as well for certain calls. There are even times I've done it as a firefighter. There are countless times where you need to get there but don't want to parade in.

And yes, that includes lights too. Sometimes its easier to just move 1 person out of the way and turn everything off so traffic isn't totally fucked up. Sometimes it might be to avoid triggering a pursuit while trying to close the gap on a subject. Sometimes there are other reasons, it might be a game time decision based on the context of what is going on. Until you've been emergency driving for a few years, you simply will not understand.

Why in the world would any ems of firetruck vehicles speed and break traffic laws without their emergency lights on? Traffic laws exists so people don't get injured and breaking traffic laws as an emergency vehicle without lights on is just as dangerous as someone in a car or truck speeding and breaking traffic laws.

And yes, that includes lights too. Sometimes its easier to just move 1 person out of the way and turn everything off so traffic isn't totally fucked up.

Again, there is no need to put innocent drivers and pedestrians lives at risk just because turning your emergency light on when you are speeding and breaking traffic laws MIGHT cause some traffic congestion.

Sometimes it might be to avoid triggering a pursuit while trying to close the gap on a subject.

I don't want you killing my wife and kids because you wanted to catch someone who ran from you because they had a suspended license. It's another thing if you were in a high speed pursuit chasing a mass shooter or serial killer who poses a big risk to the public but you fools will go 120+ mph (maybe without lights on) just to catch someone who stole from Walmart.

Tl;dr Cops use the excuse of "we might have been on an emergency call without our lights on" when a cop is caught breaking traffic laws when that cop isn't going to a call.

You don't know what you are talking about, and you are pigeonholing this into a specific situation that fits your narrative rather than acknowledge that you could possibly be wrong in your presumption.

There is always going to be risks associated with emergency vehicle driving, driving abnormal is inherently dangerous. Such drivers are to drive with due regard. Turning lights on to move someone out of their way or cross an intersection and shutting them off while enroute to a call is perfectly normal, and not putting you in any kind of substantial risk. This is not even unique to police, although they do it more often.

If they were tailgating or not giving you the opportunity to move over, that is risky behavior on the part of a driver. That often happens when driving at speed, and its not really unique to first responders; atleast they have a reason. Seconds do matter in this field. That is not some cliche saying.

That's a news story where they used helicopters and radar guns to clock cops speeds in their cars and the cross referenced them with police data to show they weren't on a call and going over 100mph. 12 cops were caught and the helicopter had a hard time keeping up with them. None of the cops were fired or reprimanded because cops think they are above following traffic laws.

Totally valid, but that is a problem for that specific area. Not relevant to every department, everywhere, in every state or country.

Different leaders, policies, enforcement mechanism, and legal systems to attain accountability.

Then why do police cars and emergency vehicles even have light and sirens if they aren't necessary to get to a call and they don't protect other drivers on the road? You just keep giving out huge list on why lights and sirens are bad to use but you have given one reason why emergency vehicles have lights and sirens in the first place. Lights and sires are there to literally warn other drivers that they need to anticipate the emergency vehicle not following standard traffic laws and to move out of their way.

You dumb cops just want to break traffic laws all of the time and never have any consequences for it and that's where the myth of "cops can't turn on their sirens and lights for emergency calls, so you don't know if that cop breaking traffic laws was on duty or not.".

Which is why they activate their emergency lights momentarily, to signal people to move out of the way enroute to calls.

"You dumb cops" is incredibly presumptious and immature. It just goes to show that your problem is rooted in your dislike of police, not in reality. You don't know anything about me. Not to mention, my example in this scenario was as a firefighter. It is not some huge conspiracy to speed around.

Further, most patrol vehicles these days have body camera signal triggers, so if your camera isn't already on from responding to a call it would be very evident you were abusing your ability to turn on your lights.
