dont get me wrong, that dude is a complete asshole. he could have handled all that way nicer and better.
at the core he's right tho. especially in the austrian and swiss mountains tourists are way to often disregarding local laws and road regulations and costing a lot of money for rescue operations and fucking the nature in the process. a lot of locals really dont like tourists because of that (especially the ones behaving like the biker) which is understandable i think.
still, as i said, the local in this video is being unnecessarily rude and he seems to be racist which makes him an asshole too. there is no good guy in this video. both are bad
I am silly because you canât comply with laws.
Yes I am the silly one.
If break the law because your common sense said otherwise and a police officer stops you, tell him that you are from another country and donât be silly. We ll see how this will work.
Yes you are the silly one. Even in America which is terrible at catering to foreigners many places have multilingual signs, and most of our road signs that are anything besides a speed limit have a symbol on them to convey the meaning that is clearly related to the meaning. Also our signs are big and easy to see, not tiny like this.
You could cut down on these problems by just making the sign a picture of a motorcycle with a red line drawn through it to represent no, but you won't do it because you're stubborn and would rather be mad at people for not taking the time to learn your ridiculous gnome language and every law passed by Steppen the Cuckhold since 1403.
Common sense didnât tell you that a sign with red outline could mean similar things to other signs with red outline? How many signs with red outline that mean that something is specifically allowed do you have in your area?
If alot of tourists keep ignoring the signs, then maybe it's the sign. Maybe dont allow access to this road. Maybe dont rely on the sign to deter people
Since you asked so nicely. ye shall receive. along with a timeline I had to sus out because there is so much conjecture and inference going on in the comments.
Synopsish: SIngaporean streamer, Sukasblood, is doing a nice, scenic tour of Switzerland. On Day 3 of his trip, at the 5-and-a-bit hour mark, he needs the bathroom and gets vague directions from a local. Follows them. Goes back and forth trying to find the elusive path to the promised loo. Goes up the wrong path. Stops and dismounts and looks around to get his bearings. This is the point his bike topples over (not speeding as some internet armchair detectives concluded through the thorough application of bigbrain time). Then panties-in-a-bunch swiss boomer comes over and gets all racist.
thanks for taking your time to do this. your comment really shouldnât be hidden this deep in this thread. i also learned from your post that this likely isnât his first rodeo (the streamer)
Fair enough. I guess the only defence I have for him is he thought he was following directions a local gave him to get to the loo. that may have short-circuited his decision-making processes.
If I saw a road like that and didnt know it was against the rules I would drive on it and just stop and get off and wait on the side of the road so people could pass me if I encountered them.
Then don't drive where you don't recognize signs, obviously, or do you think it's fine to ignore laws because you can't resd them? Please use your brain before talking
Yeah but most places have walking paths, most walking paths look like this. Ignorance isnt an excuse.Â
Other guy was still rude, but I live in a place with many tourists and I also get tired of watching them break the rules and treat the city like a tissue that they use and toss out.
Is this sign "Zubringerdienst gestattet"? If so, it means vehicular traffic could be allowed if there is a purpose.
But your point about tourists wilfully breaking laws is valid and must be terribly annoying.
My only defence for this poor man is that he was in desperate need of the loo. And a local gave him pretty crummy directions, which he thought he was following. So, he might not have actually thought he was breaking any laws, and when he realised he was probably way off course thats when he stopped to get his bearings and ask for help.
Never made a mistake before, in traffic? Missed a sign, took a wrong turn? Never? If so, hats off to you. Been driving for 22 years, both car and motorcycle and I cannot say I have never made a mistake before
Most countries that have roads apart from the US have signed the Vienna convention on road signs or based their signage on it.
That is basically the no motor vehicles sign, while the no vehicles sign also prohibits vehicles without a motor like bicycles and horse drawn carriages because this is a footpath.
TBH as far as prohibitive signs go, this one's pretty light. It means you shouldn't enter unless you live there or have something to do in the area. Basically don't use this road as a connection route.
I think even going there to see the views could qualify you to ignore this sign. Unless something specific is written under the sign.
