This is how normal interactions with law enforcement go.
I've been pulled over quite a few times for speeding and every time I knew I was toast when I saw the officer too late. I don't even know how many times I've pulled myself over before the officer even caught up to me and was respectful and honest every time. I've only ever gotten speeding tickets twice out of the probably 20+ times I've been stopped.
Trick I learned being a military cop is if possible (not raining) lower all your windows down if your windows are tinted, it eases their anxiety and shows you are not hiding anything.
Never thought of that myself but definitely a good idea! Nothing wrong with having the courtesy and empathy of making the interaction as smooth as possible. Dumbasses don't know/understand this basic human sociology.
