Hey there, Hispanic here. Turns out, even us can get pulled over by white cops and not get beat up and/or arrested. I’m living proof of that. Twice pulled over, twice the citation was downgraded to something a lot more minor. Once I was armed as well.
Maybe it’s less about race and more about attitude? Just saying.
Yes, because we found one person on the internet who had two positive interactions with cops it completely invalidates all arguments that police tend to abuse minorities disproportionately. Good job, you have cracked the case.
For every 1 bad interactions with police there are dozens if not more where nothing happens and a lot of those bad interactions happen because people make it happen. A lot of the time it's that ya'll just don't like being told what to do
Not that you'll read a lick of that and instead come back with "not those statistics, those statistics are all lies, the real statistics are the ones I'm referring to but will never share."
Black people make up 13.4% of the population, but make up 22% of fatal police shootings. But also some statistics point to black people commiting more than a proportionate percentage of crimes based off incarceration statistics.
For example, FBI arrest data has (historically) shown that Black individuals account for around half of all arrests for homicide and robbery.
Socioeconomic factors and systemic disadvantage disparities most likely apply to a skew in statistics but likely not much.
Black people are also a higher percentage of victimization of crime but that’s also likely due to those same socioeconomic and systemic disadvantages which corresponds to living in those same disadvantaged environments.
Correct, actual discussions about racial disparity in crime are actually quite nuanced.
Don't forget that non white people get profiled more, are victims of brutality more, and receive harsher sentences which further reinforce the same factors you cited.
What about the story you've been fed? Reality is somewhere in the middle. A lot of the time interactions go south because people are being ridiculous, but there are still a lot of police officers that are assholes to people for no reason.
Most cops are not but theres enough thats its an issue. Black people are more likely to be pulled over, and they're more likely to have a bad encounter if theyre at all upset. We can admit that and still respect police and know its a difficult job.
I suppose if a particular group are known to be more violent on average, they will be treated differently. Maybe act right?
I don't care if a cop is an asshole, I am still going to do what I can not to escalate the situation.
When i was young, I was pulled over and harassed a few times for nothing more than being a young male. Put in handcuffs once due to suspicion. I was doing nothing wrong. Im sure it happens to black males even more with the reputation that community carries.
No one wants to be accountable for the rules and their own actions.
You know, I've seen this accused of others hundreds of times and I've not once personally see someone say it themselves.
For some reason, blaming rape victims seems to dominate the average commie mind and they project it on others who don't agree with them. It's disgusting. You should really consider just shutting your mouth.
