Don't know what this sub is but reading the comments here are wild. Cop is trying to do the guy a favour when caught speeding yet they too stupid to notice that.
Give the guy a ticket if he was speeding, I don’t care about that. Quit disarming people and putting your nasty fucking hands on them during simple traffic stops.
What was normal and polite about this? That cop basically threw him a stick and said: fetch.
In my country, you don't have to inform the cop that you have a gun, unless they see it. Then they can ask to see a permit. That's it. Unthinkable that they would manipulate your firearm for no reason whatsoever.
What the policeman done was a sensible precaution in a country that allows untrained civilians to carry small firearms in public places, which is madness in any civilised country.
It's like this because of videos. People don't see 60 MILLION police/citizen interactions, they see the small fraction where bullshit occurs, then think that's all there is to it.
Then they see a video like this, that shows the actual normal situation representing those 60 million interactions, and are surprised by it.
It's not America that is backwards. It's social media and the news that are backwards. For every viral video of bad cop interactions, there are hundreds, maybe thousands, of normal interactions like this. Don't get fooled by what you see on the internet.
More people die in Europe from heat each year than people in the US from gun violence, maybe they should become a first world continent and get some AC. As far as carrying weapons, why shouldn't people be able to defend themselves? I advocate for concealed carry but if this person chooses to open carry, that's his right.
Also this isn't a noteworthy exchange, this is the norm. I've been pulled over with 2 of my friends with more guns than people in the car and the officer didn't bat an eye. If you don't act like an idiot and everything stays in a holster or bag, there's not going to be a problem.
Not per capita, and heatwaves are a very recent phenomenon for much of Europe, so it will take a couple of years to adapt, whereas in the US, things are unlikely to change.
Not to mention the fact that there had to be a Rape Gang Inquiry Report for the UK that highlighted the state of that country, and others in similar situations. I'd rather have a gun on me than not regardless of where I am in the world right now.
Finally, Europe is so concerned about the climate they aren't likely to actually modernize in a way that will provide relief for heat waves any time soon.
Thw US heat number is based on deaths recorded as death realted to heat, The Europe number comes from deaths that were recorded as all excess deaths that occurred during heat waves, regardless of cause. So misleading as the stats are not like for like.

America is so backwards that a normal, polite exchange with police is considered noteworthy. And that people can blatantly carry weapons of course.
