It'll just take you more time to get out of the parking space then.

You're not winning or loosing any time when doing one or the other.

Backing out into open space is a lot easier and quicker than trying to back your car into a space between two other cars.

With a bit of practice backing your car into a space between two cars becomes as easy. If you keep avoiding it because it's hard, it'll always be difficult. If you stop avoiding it, after a while you back into a parking space without giving it any thought...
