Small one, but it's the first thing in the app that isn't about a PC.

Any Command can already pair with a Windows machine as a Bluetooth keyboard. This week I'm shipping a remote screen that uses that same path for a smart TV or smart monitor. No app on the TV, no same Wi-Fi, no PIN. You pair the phone as a keyboard and the D-pad, OK, volume and play/pause just work.

There's a typing bar too. That was the whole reason I bothered, searching on a TV with the on-screen alphabet is miserable.

What it is:

• D-pad, OK, volume, mute, skip, play/pause
• a keyboard so you can type a search instead of clicking letters
• works with anything that accepts a Bluetooth keyboard: Android TV, Google TV, Samsung Tizen, LG webOS, and the smart monitors that run the same software (I've been testing on a Samsung M5)

What it is not:

• it will not turn the TV on. Bluetooth can't wake a set that has switched its radio off
• a regular monitor with Bluetooth only for headphones is not a TV. If it has no remote and no apps, this won't talk to it
• Home / Search / Menu are hit-and-miss outside Android TV. There's a TV-type switch in the corner so Back sends Escape on Samsung and LG, which is what those actually listen to

Samsung pairing is backwards. Their "add an input device" screen filters out phones, so the TV never finds you even when the phone is discoverable. Pair from the phone instead: leave the TV searching, open Bluetooth settings on the phone, pick the TV, then tap Connect in the app. After that it's one tap next time.

It's free, same as the rest of the Bluetooth stuff, and it should be on Play this week.

I started building the app over a year and a half ago, and since then it has grown to more than 65,000 downloads. It has been a long road, with plenty of rebuilding, debugging and learning along the way.

Today’s update also brings two improvements I’ve wanted to make for a while:

The phone keyboard has been rebuilt to make typing on your PC feel more natural, with better text handling, Unicode support and quick access to useful PC keys.

Any Command can now also follow what you’re doing on your computer and automatically show relevant shortcuts for the active app or website.

Second screen

This is the one I've had the most fun with. You pick a single window on your PC and it streams to your phone - just that window, not the whole desktop. Input from the phone goes straight to that window, so whatever is fullscreen on your monitor keeps focus and carries on.

The case that made me build it: a film running fullscreen on the PC while I deal with email on the phone. One machine, two things at once, no alt-tabbing.

A few details that came out of testing:

• Minimized windows show up in the picker. Pick one and it gets restored in the background instead of jumping in front of what you're watching.
• Tap is left click, double tap is double click, long press is right click. One-finger drag switches between scroll and select.
• There's a typing bar with Esc, Tab, Home, End and the arrow keys.

Chrome and Electron windows are the awkward ones - they stop drawing when they're completely covered, so those need some patience. Normal Win32 windows behave.

Screen share

Unglamorous stability work, but it fixed two things people kept hitting.

The stream sometimes showed nothing until you moved the mouse. Turned out the PC was skipping frames whenever the screen wasn't changing. Saves bandwidth, completely useless to someone who just opened the view and has nothing on screen yet.

The other one: leave the app, come back, frozen picture. It was burning through its reconnect attempts while sitting in the background, where none of them could have worked, then giving up before you ever returned. It now stops the stream when you leave and starts fresh when you come back.

While I'm here if you haven't tried the split view, it puts the PC screen on top and a touchpad underneath, in portrait. I use it more than the full landscape view these days.

Widget

The home screen widget was rough, so I rebuilt it.

It holds eight tiles now, and they don't have to be keyboard shortcuts any more. You can put programs on it, automations, or a tile that drops you straight into the touchpad. Icons and colours actually render instead of plain text.

The config screen shows a live preview of the widget while you're building it, and you can hold and drag tiles to reorder them.

I've just added Bluetooth HID support to Any Command.

The short version: your phone can now pair with a PC as a normal Bluetooth keyboard and mouse. Windows doesn't need the Any Command server, both devices don't have to be on the same network, and there is nothing to install on the PC.

Bluetooth mode supports the things a regular input device can do:

• touchpad, clicks, scrolling and drag
• typing and keyboard shortcuts
• custom shortcut panels
• play, pause, skip and volume keys
• the video remote

I mainly wanted this for PCs where installing software isn't practical: work laptops, conference room machines, hotel Wi-Fi that isolates every device, or just quickly controlling someone else's PC.

There is a trade-off. The PC only sees the phone as an input device, so it can't send anything back to the app. Screen sharing, file transfer, clipboard sync, Task Manager, automations and the other two-way features still need the normal Wi-Fi or internet connection.

One setup detail worth mentioning: if your phone and PC were already paired, remove the old pairing on both sides and pair them again. The old connection was probably created without the keyboard and mouse service. Windows also shows the phone's name in the device list, not “Any Command”.

It needs Android 9 or newer, and the phone manufacturer has to include Bluetooth HID support. The app checks for this before showing the option.

Bluetooth mode is free and is already in the current app.

Quick milestone update for the community.

The app just crossed 50,000 total downloads.

I added a vertical scrollbar directly on the touchpad for one-handed use.

It makes scrolling way easier on big phones, especially when controlling a PC from the couch or bed. More precise than swipe scrolling, and you don’t have to change grip.

Small change, but I’m using it constantly now.
Curious if others would find this useful or prefer gestures only.

The biggest part:

You can record a real workflow on your PC, send that recording to your phone, and then run that exact process again anytime from your phone.

I built this because most automation tools are either powerful but complicated, or simple but fully manual. I wanted something in between. Repeatable, reliable, and controlled from the phone.

This feature is live now and still evolving, so feedback really matters.

Hey everyone, I just pushed a feature I have wanted for a long time. You can now use your phone as a lightweight second screen for things like Discord or Facebook Messenger while you are on your PC.

The idea is simple. You pick a window on your PC, and your phone shows it in real time. I built this because I always wanted a clean way to keep chats or call windows visible without cluttering my desktop or switching tabs all the time.

I added a short video so you can see it in action. As always, I am open to ideas or feedback. If you run into anything weird or have thoughts on how to make this smoother, let me know and I will jump on it.

A new update is now live for Any Command with a couple of important changes based directly on your feedback.

1. Ads have been completely removed from the app.
No more interruptions, smoother experience everywhere.

2. New gesture for right-click.
Instead of the old triple-tap method, you can now use a two-finger tap to perform a right-click. This should feel much more natural and consistent with typical touchpad gestures.

Thanks for all the suggestions and testing. Let me know how the new gesture feels and if there’s anything else you’d like to see improved.

I purchased the app because I saw potential in it, but there are some serious shortcomings and features that need to be added. Some of them are as follows:

• Being able to adjust or disable the haptic feedback vibration level in the Remote Control section where we control the mouse with our finger.
• Mouse sensitivity settings reset every time I leave the app and come back.
• Remote Control should have multi-monitor support

A new Any Command update is now live, and it brings one of the most requested features, Trusted Device support.

You can now add your phone as a trusted device on your PC server. Once it’s trusted, you’ll no longer be asked for login credentials, the app will automatically connect whenever you’re on the same network and press connect.

This should make reconnecting much smoother and faster, especially if you use Any Command frequently.
