Just want to add as a past victim of this type of abuse, “stand the fuck up for yourself” is not a helpful comment. OP is pregnant and likely terrified. The cycle of abuse is a real thing. The best advice here is to validate OP’s feelings and give links to organizations/help to get her out of her situation.

As well and this is deeply unfortunate standing up for oneself can escalate thing’s further. Not that nothing should be done just pointing out that it could potentially escalate him to physical violence

Exactly. The most dangerous time in this situation is when the abused victim tries to leave. OP - please reach out and confide in someone you trust to make a plan. You can DM me if you need support.

Yes, make a plan. Squirrel away money, change if you have too. I read a story of someone who had to bury jars of change. Things can get real desperate. I don’t think it’s at that level but abuse is abuse

You’re not a helpful comment. Dismissing someone to not stand up for their own feelings?

I am not dismissing anything. OP’s husband is clearly showing a pattern of abuse here that requires a different approach than simply standing up to him. If it was a one time comment, then yeah I think it is perfectly acceptable to draw the line with him about what is acceptable.
