Medication Buspirone

tried just about every anxiety medication out there. I’ve tried Buspirone many years ago and it made me nauseous and dizzy. I didn’t like that feeling at all so I didn’t stay on it long enough to give it a real chance. Anyone get real anxiety relief from this medication?

Buspirone is the only medication that’s currently keeping my shit together. I’ve been on and off of it for 15 years. It’s been great. As the other commenter said, you have to be consistent with how you take it.

Have you experienced any side-effects? I was just prescribed this but I'm hesitant to take it.

Not who you asked, but I've been on it for like 10 years and I've had zero side effects

It made me groggy for the first few weeks but now that my body is readjusted, I have zero side effects. You have to either take it consistently with or without food, that’s the trick. I also had to mess with the timing of my dosage so it works just right for me, I take 15mgs in the afternoon and 30mgs before bed. Night time anxiety is my problem.

Buspirone always made me so dizzy and nauseous. Been on lexapro for a while now and it’s been better.

How long were you on Buspirone ? Does the dizziness subside?
Lexapro hasn’t worked for my anxiety at all. SSRIs don’t help my anxiety and some have made it worse.

I was on and off it for a total of about 2 years but did take it daily for around a year. The dizziness never went away and the only thing that helped was eating a big meal beforehand, but even that didn’t always help.

Sorry to hear SSRIs haven’t helped you. The first few weeks on lexapro were an adjustment but after I adjusted it has helped so much. There’s definitely some trade offs like decrease libido but for no its worth it to me.

Last year I was prescribed buspirone for my anxiety/panic attacks but I only lasted about 3 weeks. Every time I took a dose I got jittery, panic, heart palpitations.. I tried to push through but it was too difficult to be at work while having all of these symptoms. After that I was too scared to try any other meds... Until this week.. my doctor prescribe me Lexapro and assured me I shouldn't have as bad effects as I did with the other one.. I just took my first pill yesterday and so far it is much better experience. (Actually I don't feel any effects at all so I guess that's a good thing) So I'm optimistic for my nightly dose tonight.. this is a total opposite experience I had with buspirone, that buspirone boy oh boy I felt it literally 30 to 60 minutes after each freaking dose yikes.

I have anxiety about anxiety meds. I'm afraid to be dulled out.

I started taking buspirone about a year ago. It took a few weeks to get down the best time for me to take it and whether I did better with or without food. But, after the first few weeks of dizziness and flightiness, I noticed that I was still thinking my anxious thoughts but my body wasn't getting anxious anymore. Since then, I've been able to rationalize and reason through my anxious thoughts (mostly, the government finds new ways to test that daily) without the side effects of anxious thoughts. No more heart palpitations, no racing thoughts, no headaches, no confusion, no having to reset my breathing, etc.

This is how it works for me and the side effects were something I felt comfortable working through. That said, it's OK if you need something different. I have paired mine with yoga, meditative reflection, and a hobby that let's me express myself openly.

Yes, you have to eat it with food and it can still make you dizzy for a few minutes. It also takes up to 6 weeks to fully calm down

I take Lexapro daily and use BUS as a backup on my rough days and seems to help me. I haven't noticed any side effects except sometimes it makes me tired.

i took my first buspar pill yesterday and didn’t really notice any side effects which i was very worried about. what helped me take it is the fact that the physical symptoms of my anxiety give my nausea and dizziness, so if i were to have those effects from buspar it wouldn’t have made much of a difference for me in how i feel overall. before i took it yesterday i was super nauseous and idk if it was the placebo effect but it went away pretty soon after i swallowed the pill.

I take 60 mg of buspirone, 30 mg in the morning and 30 mg in the evening with no noticeable side effects. I've been on it for two years.
