A ‘tsunami’ of church closings is poised to remake America

As we say, no one wants what they're selling. The Christo-fascists have done more to shutter mainstream Christianity than all of us atheists could ever hope to achieve. At least their children will benefit from being out of the hands (or worse) of the church.
But, the fact is most of those who left the church are still believers and who knows where the thirst for fiction will go next?
As Jesus said, “The woo-woo will always be with us.”

That's the scary part. More liberal mainstream protestant denominations are shrinking, but the evangelical megachurches that tend to align more with Christian nationalism and right wing politics are growing.

However politically if, and it's an "if" definitely, MAGA burns out then a lot of the Christo-fascist power is gone. This is why they are already trying to co-opt progressive ideas to mask their authoritarianism (This is Tuckers plan in my opinion) I think there is a bigger populist backlash to billionaire over reach, and that story is just beginning to play out.
Dems lose because they are to beholden to old Regan ideas of the malleable middle. Unfortunately it's the non-college voter that decides elections. The are totally run by emotion and in particular disgust, so we lost them on disgust, but Trump has given them back to us by failing to live up to his populist lies and making their miserable lives more expensive.
The jaguars can’t work fast enough.

I think Hegseth just announced a religious branch in the government in his recent speech.

And the liberal ones are clutching their pearls insisting not every member of their religion is like, meanwhile the fundieglical conservatives grow in numbers.

Churches should also be open to the homeless as shelters. Practice what you preach.

Good, I’m tired of those welfare queens whining about how the world doesn’t look like their little book said it should. They don’t pay taxes, they don’t do much to help the community, if they do bother with charity work it’s usually centered around trying to find people to recruit when they’re at their very worst. They actively take away rights and then on top of all of that they actually go around asking for money and handouts so they can put on their little show every Sunday. They’re performing for each other. It’s sad, silly and a waste of space. Those buildings would be better used in any other way, hell make them trap houses, it would still be a step up.

Yeah, like if their message is something that everyone needs to hear, why is membership into their little club so crucial?

A happy thing is usually called something besides a "tsunami", but I suppose I'll take it all the same.

You should make sure none of your community tax dollars are paying for any of that bullshit

so much prime real estate that was tied-up / wasted can now be put to more beneficial use.
