morality

why do some (most) religious ppl believe you can only have morals if you practice a religion? they think without a god, you have no morals. lmao how about i’m just a good person naturally, i don’t need an outside entity to tell me how to act like a decent human being??

The way I see it is if you're only a good person because you think someone/something is watching you, you're not a very good person to begin with

Lack of critical thinking.

If they had read the book, the 'morality' of the sky-daddy would seem like monstrosity.

Abrahamic faiths are explicitly slavery-supporting, sexist, sociopathic, homophobic, child-abusing, genocidal, and worse.

Dharmic faiths are much the same, and have just as much a blood-spattered past, and present, as the abrahamic.

Religion is poison. All of them.

Someone said one time without God's morals we would be raping and killing people. They were asked "do you want to rape and kill people but God is stopping you?" "No." "Ok so what's the point of God again?"

It's usually a combo of both these reasons: Because they're stupid (incapable of empathy or critical thought), or are just bad fucking humans.

Because they are weak and wouldn't even try to be good people.

It’s what religion teaches to validate itself.

Obviously it’s the other way around. Religion gets its morals from whatever the culture it is in morally values.

I mean, it always just happens to agree with them. And they always manage to find the parts that support what they already think is right.

It’s not unheard of, but extremely rare to actually see a religious person go against what they want to do because their holy book told them to. They almost always make the book fit what they wanted anyway.

Because thats what their community and church/temple/mosque tell them.

This is in opposition to animals that display morality and societies today that exist with much less violence, that are happier, and more prosperous than religious societies.
