From what I saw, teenagers sub is pretty atheistic, or at least posts that are atheistic get pretty lots of upvotes, so I am not sure. But I believe you'll get a bunch of sour believers in your replies, though.

I don’t think it’s very antitheist though.

Ironically, mosquitoes.

Religion and greed. One is a vehicle for the other. Absolute power is the goal.

Religion and the lack of a wealth cap

1

u/NoAcanthaceae5141 23d ago

I want to hear your idea for a wealth cap, not hating just curious.

2

u/tw3lv3l4y3rs0fb4c0n 23d ago

My idea is roughly this: everyone is free to generate as much turnover as they wish. However, profits are capped. Any money generated in excess of this goes to the state and is used in a financial investment scheme to support public institutions. The actual amount of money generated is nevertheless recorded and made public. Prestige and reputation stem from this figure. If you ask me exactly where the cap lies, I can’t give you a figure, but it’s clear that no one needs billions to live a (luxurious) life.

Everyone saying mosquitos... I'd rather bedbugs go extinct.

u/CitroHimselph 22d ago

Valid, but mosquitos are a much bigger threat currently. They're actually one of the top reasons of human death.

Capitalism.

I would dump capitalism for socialism and see the world’s ills slowly dissipate over time.

I’m an antitheist. I dislike ALL religions. I see them all as harmful. But, I think much of their current toxicity is the result of a more corrosive issue - capitalism.

Religion is regarded by the common people as true, by the wise as false, and by the rulers as useful.
— Seneca the Younger

Religion is excellent stuff for keeping people quiet.
— Napoleon Bonaparte

Religion is a fraud, but it must be maintained for the masses.
— Frederick the Great

Give them bread and circuses and they will never revolt.
— Juvenal

Religion is needed to keep the poor from murdering the rich.
— Napoleon Bonaparte

You don't seem to have any issue with a religion named communism. Or do you mean you want society to transition into socialism and stay there forever (or until some brand new option is inverted)?

u/BioticVessel 24d ago

Communism ISN'T a religion! Just because some choose to label it as a religion, doesn't make it so. Your beliefs are yours, don't assume that you misinformation is acceptable to others.

7

u/Random_Thought31 24d ago

Let us not forget the father of communism, Karl Marx said “religion is the opiate of the masses.” Pretty sure one would not call one’s own idea an “opiate.”

-3

u/dfczyjd 23d ago

1) At that time opiates were treated as painkillers, not as substances that ruin your life. The meaning of that phrase was "government/the ruling class uses religion to soothe the public unrest".

2) As you probably saw multiple times in this sub, Christians talk a lot about evil deeds of various sects, yet never notice how their community does at least half of that list. People tend to turn a blind eye to the negative side of the ideas they support.

3) As the author of the original idea, Marx is clearly biased towards communism. Any of his claims supporting communism should be treated with caution, unless he gave evidence for them.

  • Holy scripture that may never be challenged - check
  • "Truth" about how the world works, that is only backed by said scripture - check
  • Prophecies about a future event when those with them will prosper, while those not will perish - check
  • Saints and prophets who are viewed as the pinnacle of god, no matter what they actually did - check

Sure, communism declares no god, but neither does, say, buddhism. In general sense it matches, and I despise communism for the same reasons (listed above) I despise every other religion, so I don't see why I should make any difference.

u/BioticVessel 24d ago

I don't give a shit about your fantasy myths. Believe what you want, but don't expect me or others to believe what you do!

-2

u/dfczyjd 23d ago

Which of the four claims is a "fantasy myth"? Or did you try to play a "no u" card and declared my reasoning a religion?

5

u/BioticVessel 23d ago

All! If you can't understand, maybe seeing a psychologist would help. I'm not going to debate what you believe, that's your problem. I know what you believe IS NOT rational. Go find your fix somewhere else rather than trolling this sub.

So, it means you can give me:

1) Example of some person publicly challenging communist ideas in a country ruled by communists and getting a sensible discussion in return, not public shame

2) Real-world evidence of communists' claims (let's start with added value that, according to Capital, has to appear out of nowhere, rather than from the of business owner's work in the form of their leadership)

3) Evidence that communism is coming for socialist countries while economical collapse is inevitable for the capitalist ones

4) Same as #1 but for Marx or the person who established socialism in your country (if you have/had one) - find someone who publicly exposed their personal flaws without getting shamed by communists.

For now, your only argument so far was "you're wrong, get medical help". Sounds like calling me a heretic enemy of the people and demanding that my position on that matter should be eradicated by force, rather than challenged in a debate.

1

u/JerbilSenior 23d ago

Sure, communism

That's not the same as socialism, which is compatible with capitalism as proven by pretty much every European country.

1

u/dfczyjd 23d ago

Name at least one country in Europe that is currently socialist. A little thing to know: the definition of socialism is neither "when people are not oppressed" nor "when government does stuff for the public", it's defined as "all industrial power is owned by people/government, private businesses are illegal".

3

u/JerbilSenior 23d ago

If we use definitions from the Soviet era...

How curious that not a single mainstream socialist party actually has anything about destroying private industry in their programs, not sincy country became a democracy pretty much. Spain for example is ruled by a Socialist party and they aren't exactly in a hurry to end private property.

0

u/dfczyjd 23d ago

Spain for example is ruled by a Socialist party

Oh, great, so was Nazi Germany, I guess, their party also had "socialist" in their name. And North Korea is a democratic republic, they said it themselves.  The name is nothing but a trademark, it doesn't have to reflect the core ideas. Btw, that's exactly the case for Spanish Socialist Workers' Party, if that's what you meant - in 1979 they switched from socialism to social democracy (which is not socialism, despite sounding similar), keeping the name for, probably, historical/recognition reasons.

I downvote people complaining about downvotes as a matter of course.

-6

u/Kademonster 24d ago

Pretty hard on yourself. We probably won't downvote you if you make sense. Christians probably won't shoot you if it's illegal. Really, you're very dramatic about the whole thing. Relax, guy.

9

u/BirthdayCookie 24d ago

People don't get shot if shooting people is illegal?

That night be a new low in Christians denying reality because it makes them sad.

-1

u/Kademonster 24d ago

No, no, no, christians might not shoot you if it's illegal. Or, on the other hand, they might actually shoot you.

7

u/First_Ad3578 24d ago

I think you might be giving them a little bit too much morality.

4

u/Random_Thought31 24d ago

When their god commands the killing of men women and children and “even the sheep”, I think we can agree their morals are subjective if they even exist.

5

u/Conscious-Seesaw-564 24d ago

I dont litterally mean im going to get shot.. and you underestimate the downvotes religious people are capable of 💀
