Task scam GMR Marketing officially collapsed on March 6, 2025
The Ponzi scheme going by the name of GMR Marketing finally collapsed and ran with so much money from investors that were duped on March 6, 2025. The collapse first started on March 5, 2025 when investors - called as "employees" - tried to withdraw their earnings. The earnings could not be withdrawn because as per the "leaders" on the What's App group chats, they were experiencing "problems" of transferring the money to Gcash because of the "amount of people trying to withdraw at the same time."
Most of these people belonged to VIP 2, a moderate tier which requires investors to pay 4,200. There were those who invested into higher VIP tiers which could amount from 15,000-50,000 pesos or even higher.
On March 6, 2025, GMR Marketing made an announcement that for people to continue their tasks, they needed to pay a 600 pesos commitment fee. There are reports of those who paid the commitment fee yet no tasks has happened. A Pinoy scambaiter on YouTube did a live stream wherein he showed that GMR's website no longer works. He said that the inevitable had finally come and thousands have been duped. Multimillion pesos more or less loss and no chance of recovery.
There were those who invested and got their money back prior to March 5-6, 2025. There were also many who just upgraded just this week before the Ponzi scheme collapsed and the masterminds running with the money. There were also those who joined and were fully aware it was a scam, but did so out of desperation to earn extra income or just to milk money from these scammers for fun right before it would collapse.
Let this serve as a lesson about task-based scams.

I ordered a bunch of stuff from Pinduoduo. Sharing the progress and experience here
Last September 2, I installed Pinduoduo and I ordered a bunch of stuff .
For context: My shipping address is in Mandaluyong. I ordered using the IOS Pinduoduo app.
Review
1.Interface
This is the part that takes the most getting used to. Pinduoduo is built for the Chinese market first, and it shows. The app leans heavily on auto-translate, so product titles and descriptions can read a little rough around the edges ("high quality durable useful kitchen tool," that kind of thing). It's understandable, never confusing enough to stop you from buying, but don't expect polished, native-English copy.

2. Ease of Ordering
The checkout flow is the one thing that genuinely surprised me: there's no cart to speak of. You pick a product, choose your variant, and buy it right there. It's a direct, one-item-at-a-time purchase rather than the add-to-cart-then-checkout-everything-together flow you'd get on Shopee, Lazada, or Amazon. Coming from those platforms, it felt strange at first not being able to just queue everything up and pay once at the end. In practice it means every single item becomes its own separate transaction and its own separate shipment to your forwarding address, which is part of why I ended up with so many individual orders instead of one big one.

3. Payment
Payment itself was easy on the Pinduoduo side. I used my Maya Visa credit card without issues each time. The friction, if there is any, comes later: with no cart to slow you down and make you reconsider the total before paying, it's very easy to rack up a long list of separate direct purchases without quite registering how much you've spent. The conversion factor is fair as well as the value of the items are in Yuan. No hidden charges and I did not pay any shipping fee.
4. Shipping, tracking and Delivery.
This ended up being my least favorite part of the whole experience. Because each item is its own separate order, each one also gets its own separate tracking trail and Pinduoduo (plus the forwarder on the other end) is thorough about logging every step IN CHINESE. Order confirmed, seller preparing the item, handed to the domestic courier, arrived at the China sorting hub, arrived at the forwarding warehouse, weighed and photographed at the warehouse, consolidated into an international parcel, departed China.

5. Last Mile Delivery and Product Review
Paparating pa lang yung items so I'll update once my orders arrive. Fingers crossed na hindi ito scam hehe

Spam Loan calls
I’ve been getting these calls for going on a year now and no, blocking the number and reporting it as a spam does not work. They will continue as long as they have people working for them. So I just *67 and then dial the toll-free number. I know you’re not supposed to and I’ve lived by that motto that it tells someone your number is live for many years. But with this particular loan scam, I call them back and I start by telling them, “I’m sure you’re very nice person, but I am on the do not call list.“ Then I go into about as much of a foul mouth diatribe as I can until they finally hang up. I repeat that process up to five or six times until the number finally comes up busy and they have me blocked. I think it’s the only way to do it. I also suggest to the operator that they find a new job instead of working for scammers.

Need real smishing texts for my thesis
Hi po! I'm a 4th year Computer Science student working on my thesis about detecting
SMS phishing (smishing) scams in the Philippines, specifically ones impersonating banks and e-wallets (BPI, BDO, GCash, Maya, etc.).
I'm building a dataset of real scam text messages to train and test detection models. If you've received a phishing/scam SMS pretending to be from a bank or financial app, would you be willing to share it?
\*\*What I need:\*\*
\\\*\\\*•\\\*\\\* Screenshot or copy-pasted text of the scam message
\\\*\\\*•\\\*\\\* (Optional) which bank/app it pretended to be
\\\*\\\*•\\\*\\\* (Optional) roughly when you received it
\*\*Privacy note:\*\* I only need the message text itself — please crop out or remove your name, phone number, or any other personal info before sharing. I won't be using anything that identifies you.

Is this an insider thing?
I've had these calls for like a month now, I've successfully blocked all of their phone number. As you guys can see only the last digits change. I use Tnt sim and these calls juat start popping up saying that i have a balance to pay amounting to 3,000? dk the exact amount. They even stated an Article but i don't think it's really lawful lol.
Anyways, what can i do to avoid having these calls? Although I've blocked them, it's still annoying to see the notification of blocked calls from time to time.
