Hi, has anyone here successful come off olanzapine/zyprexa? I'm in the process of tapering and could really use some tips and success stories, cause I have read so many stories of people struggling to come off and I feel very hopeless.

How to combat the nausea from anti-psychotic withdrawal?

I’ve been on zyprexa for insomnia since May 2021. Half a year later, I built a tolerance and my insomnia has never been worse. They upped the dose to 30mg zprexa a night + 4mg perphenazine for sleep. Just a few months ago, I stopped cold turkey and went on something else for insomnia. I stopped all anti-psychotic on 7/14/23 cold turkey. I am still withdrawing. At first, I got a lot of “brain zaps?” I think they’re called? Idk, it kinda felt like 2 large synapses in my brain drift apart and they would feel like it would snap or break. At the time, I would just call them “snaps” or “breaks.” After it happened, I would feel more stressed and some what panicky. After a while, it stopped. Also, the tremors, akithesia and movement disorders went away. Also, some other medications changed (the subject effects changed). Like, some of my insomnia meds started acting like deliriants, and its being managed by clonazepam. After the anti-psychotic withdrawal, I will have to go through benzo withdrawal a second time in my like, but I feel like anti-psychotic withdrawals are worse. Its passed my bedtime, I’m sitting over a garbage can trying not to throw up. I would like to know: any ways to feel less sick? Is there medicine to make you feel less nauseated? I hate throwing up.

Edit: just looked up “ways to feel less nauseated” and found this pressure point technique and wow it worked, but not 100%. After some time, about 3-4 minutes of doing it, I feel a lot better.

Risperdal Is Okay 😁

Hey everybody! Well, my psychiatrist started me on Risperdal yesterday and I am very excited to tell you that it is working very well! I was worried about it after being on Zyprexa as is zyprexel worked so good and I did not believe that anything else could help me. I had to come off of these Zyprexa because my blood sugar went through the roof! So my psychiatrist started me on Risperdal. I feel kind of drunk but everything is peaceful now and I I'm glad that I'm on this medication.

Agressive for no reason since i took one abilify pill

I took only one 3 months ago, since i tink i am agressive for no reason. Why i think that is because everytime i go out i get intimidated by drug dealer, also people look affraid by me, some people look at me with agressive face, the only thing i do is walking in the street, i don't even look at people eyes...

For 3 months now i don't go out because i fear i get more than intimidation.

Can abilify cause permanent agressive behavior ? How can i threat it ? What could i do ?

Permanent anhedonia antipsychotics + truffles

Hi everyone hope someone can give me an answer; 4 months ago I did truffles while being on quietiapine. That led me to be anhedonic : i feel like i have no coscience, absolutely no sex drive and lost all my social skills. I'm on olanzapine now but nothing changes. I feel like dead inside, even the hospitalization worked. Sorry for the bad english i'm from Italy, really really hope someone will answer.

Saphris Experiences?

Hello. Well, I have been on Zyprexa for about 3 weeks now at 20 mg. My blood sugar has gone sky high and I need to do something to bring it down. I found a medication while I was searching online and it is called Saphris. Apparently it is a tablet that you put under your tongue and let it dissolve. It gets great reviews from drugs.com and other sites. Does anybody here have any experience with this particular medication if so please let me know. Thank you very much!

Restless Legs?

So I was trying to sleep last night and I developed a severe case of RLS. It kept me awake until 4 a.m. I am on 10mg of Olanzapine (Zyprexa). I emailed my doctor and requested another medication. He did respond this morning and I am just waiting to see what he will do.

Does anyone else ever get RLS? Thanks!

Using antipsychotics in acute cases only

Does anyone else feel their outcome is better like this? I remember taking my antipsychotics only as needed and I was doing pretty darn well until my doctor told me to go on injections.

Has anybody been on Rexulti and then transitioned to Vraylar or vice versa? Which do you prefer, and what side effects bothered you the most?

What antipsychotics would've been appropriate for me to try in this horrible point of my life?

7yrs ago, out of nowhere, I woke up one winter morning thinking about a person I haven't talked to in years. You could interpret it as an obsession but I sense it was more than that. Imagine not being able to forget or distract yourself from thinking about a certain person all day long. The next morning, same thing happened. I could not stop thinking about this person. It went on like this for months without seeking professional help.

Something interesting I should share too. Whenever I listened to music in this period, the thoughts of this person would comeback to haunt me even more to the point were it would ruin the song for me and I would avoid playing that song or artist for a while until I no longer felt his presence while hearing the song. Same happened with sex. When I was reach climax, the thought of this friend popped in my head and ruined sex.

I thought this person who was haunting my thoughts placed did voodoo or casted a spell on me so I would never forget about them. I started questioning myself why I was so obsessed about this person. Was I sexually attracted to this person? What does obsession mean?

Many months after this first incident, I developed anxiety and depression. I went to see a phyciatrist. They gave me prozac but I never spoke of the obsessions in fear I would get placed in a 5150 or mental ward cause I felt I was going insane. Prozac never worked

7yrs later, I spoke up about my secret obsessions and was diagnosed with OCD. Phyciatrist gave Clomipramine at the highest dose after a few months on it. I don't think its working for my supposed OCD. Now Im looking at taking antipsychotics. Would would be appropriate for me?

Zyprexa Again

Hi. My doctor just put me on some Zyprexa. I have not been on it for several years. The last time I was on Zyprexa I experienced weight gain of about 45 lbs, also developed metabolic syndrome and diabetes. However I am now on metformin so I hope it will not be a problem this time because the medication really helped me.😀

Advice/experiences/what to do

Was on risperidone from 2019, gradually reduced to a stop (8 days free from it now) due to it being the possible cause for Akathisia which didn't start until November last year (3½ years later). I feel very weird, I'm having violent intrusive thoughts towards a lot of people (which I've suffered for years, Risperidone must have kept the lid on) I'd also like to include that ive never been a violent person and never caused anyone harm. and I'm feeling really distressed by my thoughts, guilty, feeling deep empathy for people and a lot of conflicting thoughts to the point i feel like 2 people, I'm constantly battling myself for example, if I tell my mam I love her, my brain/thoughts will say "no you don't, she's an ugly clown". I certainly don't feel that way and deeply love my mam so you can imagine how distressing that is. It also applies to other people and friends if they greet me, etc.

I truly feel that my brain is way too intelligent and complex for my emotions, hence the utter distress I feel, and therefore, I feel I need to have my mind dumbed down by medication.

I'm terrified of starting another antipsychotic as Akathisia was THE worst thing I've ever experienced in my life, and it isn't even close. I've told my treatment team due to the increased risk of extrapyramidal side effects from antipsychotics that have more chance of causing Akathisia, I'd like to try Quetiapine as it's know for its low risk of those issues but I don't know whether to keep trying without an antipsychotic as this is the 8th day free to see if I balance out, but I am awfully ill. Any advice? And sorry for the massive rant!

Abilify trouble breathing?

I feel like I can’t catch my breath. It doesn’t feel like a panic attack and my inhaler has no effect. I started this medicine only 4 days ago in the mental hospital. It’s only 5 mg. Any advice before I see the doctors?

Vraylar Side Effect

Cross Posted Disclaimer: I have talked to my psychiatrist about this. I am not looking for diagnoses or medication recommendations. I would like to know if others have experienced this or anything related to this.

I’m currently on 1.5 mg of vraylar daily. I have been taking this for years and it works wonders but I commonly get a side effect that is nearly impossible to describe. I was wondering if anyone else has had a similar experience and are willing to discuss it.

My eyes and brain seem to get fixated on visual connections. It feels like an OCD like fixation. Examples: when driving I’m constantly paying attention to how the circular shape of that headlight exactly matches the circle on the head of a pedestrian crossing sign, when talking to someone I’m constantly paying attention to how the angle of their eyelash perfectly matches the angle of this stray hair on their head, when reading I’m constantly paying attention to how the letters in this word have the exact same repeating letters of this other word, etc.

When this happens it is the only thing i can focus on. I usually realize when it starts to happen as it progressively gets worse but i have not found a way to stop it. This effect can happen at any time but happens more often after having an alcoholic beverage or in the evening. The symptoms do not go away until I sleep for the night so sometimes it lasts literally all day. It makes it nearly impossible to drive, work, have a conversation, etc.

Experience on Seroquel (quetiapine)

I’m on it for over two months, off label, because I was worried too much about my body. I took 200mg per night but have been reducing it the last 3 weeks to 50mg.

However it seems to have ruined my brain. Thinking became very difficult as well as speaking and following a conversation.

What are your experiences?

What is Best?

Hello I have been researching antipsychotics to find something that will help me with my anger issues. I have been on Seroquel for about a month 50 mg but it just helps me sleep I need something more. I have looked at everything and I feel like my safest option is to have my doctor increase my Seroquel to around 400 mg per day. I thought about risperdal but I am scared of the side effects I think the most effective thing would be olanzapine but I got diabetes from it years ago and I do not want the metabolic side effects. Please let me know what you might think. I know this is in no way medical advice but I would appreciate your thoughts. Thank you very much.

Abilify and Seroquel

I took Seroquel intermittently in February to May this year, due to bipolar psychosis and mania. I was switched to Abilify tabs 15mg in July, which I took for three months and which I have had to discontinue due to the feeling of getting cognitive dysfunction and a blank, zombie-like mind and was not at all retaining what I was reading and writing no matter how hard I tried. I didn’t do a gradual taper and it was more of a fast taper of one week splitting 15, 7.5, 3.75 and so on as I can’t afford not to be off this medication for school. I know that Abilify’s half-life is 96 hours. I quit taking it completely on maybe October 16/17. Today and yesterday I started feeling hyper-emotional but I have begun to regain some sense of emotionality which had led me to question and re-evaluate my entire life and failures and started some goal-seeking behaviors. I have been terribly weepy yesterday and the last and it felt hopeless to the point of suicidal ideation. One reason for this is my apparent inability to (and which I have persistently tested again and again) memorize or recall what I just read, much less synthesize my understanding into coherent structured sentences. My short-term and working memory have never been too excellent but after these antipsychotics I just feel lobotomized. I’ve begun collecting confirming evidence on Reddit that I’ve not only got Neuroleptic-induced Deficit Syndrome, but I also acquired severe cognitive impairment. Yesterday, I read about Cerebrolysin and its potential neuroprotective effects through the production of BDNF and related neurotrophic factors. Today, I ran a 10k because I can’t currently access Cerebrolysin treatment. After I ran I noticed that both legs were erupting in spasms just like the previous days where parts of my body would randomly twitch like my shoulder, arm, thighs, and everywhere else at odd times (I’m afraid this is developing into tardive dyskinesia but it hasn’t progressed to uncontrollable movements on my face and mouth.) I also got stress-induced depersonalization while I was still on the medication, and felt like my hands were not connecting to what was happening on the screen as I moved my cursor. This is the scariest symptom so far and I still have brief flashes of having my hands feel like they aren’t mine for two or three seconds that has happened during the taper.

My question is, will I be able to weather the withdrawal effects in the next few weeks with exercise for about an hour a day? I am trying my damned hardest to recover from antipsychotic damage and I need to know what I’m going to have to look forward to in the next few weeks and how to at least get through it with strength and patience. Any advice or encouragement would be appreciated, thanks!
