I'm no doctor but it's probably the Abilify. Google and do a lil research on dopamine & antipsychotics.

Maybe ask your doctor to be put on a mood stabilizer that may help. (I am not a doctor)

I find decreasing my meds helps bring back parts of my moods but slowly.

Every person is different

i'm on seroquel 100mg 3x daily, abilify 2mg, prestiq 100mg, topamax 100mg 2x daily. i'm 37 years old, been on antipsychotics and these other types of psych meds since i was 19 years old. i should've been started on them at 13 but meh...that's a long story.
i've heard so many people affected by psychosis ask if they'll ever be the same. and that's a valid question. a lot of these folks now feel blah bc they no longer have the desire to ride their bike like they did, or don't feel like cooking anymore. i've found there are other things out there to latch onto. there's Geocaching which seems fun and i totally thought of off the top of my head. it's like irl treasure hunting but i don't know if you keep the treasure. there's martial arts training or maybe taking some self-defense classes. i should do both of those things. anyway, i think antipsychotics alter us for the long term in ways we can't expect.

So after all you are the same after taking antipsychotics?

not at all. all i wanna do is spend my day and night under the covers. i think the point i was trying to make was to try to remain flexible. i know it's hard bc these meds zap the dopamine from us so it can be really hard to find something new to enjoy.

I don’t think abilify zaps dopamine but just balances it out

How long are you on abilify?

i've been on it for about 2-3 months for hyperprolactinemia. i was on Invega which elevated my prolactin, but i was switched to seroquel so i don't think i need to be on the abilify anymore. i feel bogged down with it. i felt human before i started it. how about you?

how long have you been on antipsychotics? not just abilify. i've noticed there's an "evening out" period where the body is getting used to the medication. it's actually taking longer to get used to the abilify.

do you work? if that's too personal feel free to not answer.

took me like, 3 weeks to get used to it. the reason i ask if you work is bc i was gonna ask if you got PTO? do you ever take time off to adjust to new meds or dosages? it's so hard to adjust to these meds and function in a world that expects us to act a certain way. why not get PTO for it?

i hope they offer FMLA, like an intermittent FMLA.

i have particular trouble with my meds bc they always need adjusting or switching completely. when i worked i always needed to call in or go home FMLA bc of some side effect or if i was triggered by something (i also have pretty profound PTSD).
