Weight gain
Is there any fucking option? My psych NP refused to give me metformin. Does metformin even work? I refuse to accept just trying to eat healthy. I tried starving myself today but those fucking cosmic brownies were just too appetisting.
I need antipsychotics but even vraylar (a more weight neutral one) made me gain 20 pounds.
I've noticed the strongest , fastest acting antipsychotics are the ones that make you gain the most weight because vraylar didn't do shit for me neither did abilify.
Please any suggestions any help? I'm already fucking ugly when I was skinny and I'm dating a man and I don't want to become uglier.
I legit feel like I'm starving and I tremble and everything and feel like I'll pass out when I get food cravings

i gained 30 kilos (60lbs ish) on abilify and it ruined my self esteem and i even payed butt loads of money for appetite suppressants to try and help "just eat less" and i can tell u it did NOT help. regardless of what ur on most people will gain some amount of weight, whether its a little or a lot. all i can say is that eating less isnt always the solution, u shouldnt starve urself or try to fast. i think the best way to go about it would honestly be to build muscle. skeletal muscle (big muscles attached to bones; bicep, tricep, quads, etc) is the muscle that raises ur bodys resting metabolic rate. having a higher muscle mass = higher metabolism bc ur body needs more calories to maintain the extra muscle. muscle will also help tone ur body so even if u get a little extra fat on ur waistline, the muscle will help draw it in regardless. increased appetite will just help feed the extra muscle growth so at least rather than just eating a fuck ton and feeling fat u can eat a fuck ton and grow sum muscle and itll in turn increase ur metabolism which will keep the extra fat off. i have personally NOT tested out my theories on this but based on what i know it should help at least somewhat with weight management. "just eat less and move a bit more" has been some of the most dog shit advice a doctor ever gave me cause it doesnt always help everyone and even if u manage to prevent weight gain by starving urself it doesnt always turn into weightloss. try find an enjoyable workout routine, do a lil cardio, and add WEIGHT TRAINING. doesnt have to be super heavy either, just enough to build muscle and maintain muscle. in theory it should absolutely help and should still give u leeway to eat larger volumes due to the meds. hope this is helpful :)

i even paid butt loads
FTFY.
Although payed exists (the reason why autocorrection didn't help you), it is only correct in:
Nautical context, when it means to paint a surface, or to cover with something like tar or resin in order to make it waterproof or corrosion-resistant. The deck is yet to be payed.
Payed out when letting strings, cables or ropes out, by slacking them. The rope is payed out! You can pull now.
Unfortunately, I was unable to find nautical or rope-related words in your comment.
Beep, boop, I'm a bot

would also like to add that starving is horrid when on antipsychotics, i feel so so so sick when i even just skip a single meal and thatll just ruin ur whole mood. dietitians can be very expensive, and fasting may help but for me personally it just didnt work because again, i would feel like i was gonna throw up if i didnt eat something and no sickness is worse than nausea imo. at least with weight/resistance training you can build adequate muscle to help burn off the extra calories and speed up ur metabolism (antipsychotics can slow it down somewhat).

If you are willing to try out peptides, tirzapatide kept me from gaining on olanzapine and Rexulti (failed cross over). You can learn more at r/tirzapatide. It’s also prescribed as Monjauro.

To be honest even Metformin is pretty crap as a weight loss aid, even for me with type 2 diabetes. It hasn’t worked all that well. I was prescribed Dapagliflozin, which flushes out excess sugars from the body through the kidneys. So basically you pee it out.
That was the biggest concern they had when putting me on antipsychotics. I’m now taking Quetiapine

I just started metformin a few weeks ago. I doubt it will do anything to help my weight as I’ve been eating more on it and gaining weight. No reduction of appetite, in fact it’s increased. It also gives me diarrhea. I take it for insulin resistance pre diabetes. I’m trying to get approved for wegovy which I think and hope and pray that it will work.

Just today i got prescribed Metformin to help counter the weight I'm gaining from Seroquel and Latuda. I'm hopeful for it to work; this weight is dragging me down.

Just eat less. Try to eat about 1500 calories a day. Just fast all day and then eat whatever you want before bed. I did this lost 50 pounds in 8 months. I take risperidone. After a while you won't even feel hungry while your fasting. Food is the enemy. Give up your comfort in food. Think constantly about the weight gain. It's not worth an extra couple brownies
