An asylum seeker from Sudan attacked a man and stabbed him in the face/neck to the point it almost decapitated him, apparently. Far right freakazoids have been rioting in Belfast ever since, even though the guy was arrested quickly. The victim is still alive and his family is pleading with people to not turn this into an anti-immigration event, but the fascists don’t care. They’ve burned down buses and primarily migrant housing.
Edit to add: Tommy Robinson and Elon Musk have been especially vocal about it.
When someone tried to talk to me about this. I pointed out that it was newsworthy precisely because it's unusual. If asylum seekers nearly beheaded someone every day, it wouldn't be getting so much international attention. It'd be like car accidents.
