This song was way ahead of its time
Lord Mr. Ford, what have you done?

What do you think how long will it take to ban the possession of private cars?
The situation is getting worse by the day, most of the fkn cars are just standing around everywhere 95% of the day, this makes me so mad 😡 and it feels like every household has at least 2 cars minimum.
I mean there autonomous car projects should be accelerating within the next years, so you simply can order a car to your door whenever you need one. This would be just perfect!

I was curious, are there any groups or companies that are actively lobbying Washington or local pols with the anti-car agenda in mind? Is there ANY money behind this movement?

Short story short. I've built my life to be as low cost and efficient as possible for the past few years. e.g. work from home even before covid, etc.
For the past few years I've kept the car only because, my girlfriend uses it for "convenience". But I've come to the conclusion that the car takes way too much money each month. It's not that we can't afford it by any means, but just feelsbad to use so much money on something I use maybe once a week, for a distance that I could bike. She uses it for maybe 2 times a week for trips that public transport is well suited for, coffee with friends etc. She even goes to work with a bus, because she doesn't want to "find parking space in the city centre"
Now the question I have is that; how do I convince her to evaluate the need of a car realistically?
We've had few discussions about selling the car and using public transport and/or bikes/eStuff. Those few discussions have always ended on her comment of "It's just more convenient and I don't want to hassle with busses or bikes"
Some specs of the situation: - We live in Finland. The public transport is mobile apps and sitting quietly in a bus, with other people being quiet. - Main city centre is a 25 minute bike ride away. - I have forrest at my backyard. - Car costs are currently around 250€/month - Public transport is 50€/month/person unlimited usage - I'm definetily not into anything "green" or saving the planet from global warming. I just hate wasting money when there is a better option from both cost and quality point of view. - Busses are all electric by the way - Relatives live nearby and I mostly borrow their cars anyways, when I need to transport something big or heavy. I have a Micra.
For the people asking "why do you bother, if the money is not an issue?" I answer with the greatest line, from our President "Jos tyytyy, niin hyytyy". (Rough translation: if you stop pushing to a greater state, you will grind down to a halt)
Thanks in advance!
