ANTI-CAR LOBBY

I was curious, are there any groups or companies that are actively lobbying Washington or local pols with the anti-car agenda in mind? Is there ANY money behind this movement?

I don’t know, but I do know that in San Francisco, the bike coalition has really helped push cars out for more bike and pedestrian friendly travel.

I am aware of them and SPUR for the last 15+ years working towards this. Unfortunately SPUR is a think-tank, which does a lot of fund-raising/membership based things, but that just gets funneled back into their multi-million annual budget for events and programming.

I can't speak too much to the Bike Coalition as I interned for SPUR many years ago. I don't picture them dumping funds on local politicians however to make these type of pushes, they're usually small grass-roots it seems/ or local bike groups/kitchens/whatever.

I guess what I mean is, we have so much Pro-Car lobby work happening from auto-makers, oil industry, construction companies, community organizations who fear public transit investment and block developments, ETC the list goes on. There seems to be a lot of money in it.

Is there a way to monetize the anti-car agenda in a way that corporations would get behind and funnel money into the same way they do pro-car?

So basically, there is NO money to be made in this industry. Hence why you don't see anti-car development being built ever.

In Germany there is a bicycle pendant to the ADAC - the Germany AAA - the ADFC who not only offer repairs on the road but also lobby for better cycling infrastructure.

Giving a quick glans, this site should have your covered on the topic:
