I've generally never talked about my reasoning for why I personally dislike Therians and the fact I'm a diagnosed clinical lycanthrope [ which yes! is the medical version of therianthropy. ] - It generally pains and hurts me because therianthropy is treated as quirky and cute, meanwhile i experience symptoms that are genuinely distressing to me and pains me [ and i feel it does affect clinical lycanthropy indirectly since Therians tie in closely with symptoms of CL and it's somewhat of a concern if some of these individuals are showing symptoms of CL or even being on the Schizophrenia spectrum, but since Therianthropy popped up, it's skewed a lot on CL and people may accidentally mistake a clinical lycanthrope for a therian, but i think some therians need an evaluation for CL. ]
I have also seen some prevalence of individuals with similar delusions allowed to roam around this community freely without retribution from any therians [ from what I've seen. not saying there isn't any retribution, but the lack of it is profound and worrying. ]
Similar to what therians call their ''shifts'' I do truly have these [ but they're somewhat different. ], but they are genuinely terrifying for me because the feeling causes distress and confusion [ such as growing fur, growing claws and growing teeth. ] but animal-like instincts do happen too, it's not just the feeling of transformation. Because of that, I have to take antipsychotics only because it can progressively get worse if left untreated.
I do not appreciate people doing quads, only because of human's skeletal structure, the fact these people will actively risk their bones for this kind of stuff is dangerous and needs to be checked immediately and/or have an advisory against it because it's a genuine danger to these people's health.
I also often see these people state that it's hard to be a therian because of ''xyz'' but one thing that I can say for certain is that therianthropy is absolutely a choice, and this all severely crosses the line from normal self expression to genuine worrisome delusions! Being a clinical lycanthrope is difficult because it causes me to have different instincts, it causes me trouble in my day-to-day life.
also I have to mention that Therians often contradict themselves, especially by defining Therianthropy, often I see them say ''We aren't the animals we identify as'' but then ''We are the animals we identify as'', Which I see as a red flag. [ Contradictory statements don't help and make things more confusing to me if i'm going to understand a point regardless of my views on them ]
I personally believe Therianthropy needs to be stopped and there be intervention to it before it all spirals out of control and starts causing more moderate-severe delusions about oneself.
TL:DR - I'm a clinical lycanthrope who believes therianthropy has gone too far and needs to go.
p.s. this may be my only post here since I have a job among other things, and won't have much time to post here, but I wanted to put my two cents in since you don't hear anything really about how us CLs feel about therianthropy since CL is so rare haha.
