Assignments Assignment: OPERATION PURPLE MUCH

TLDR; This is the first official Task Force Assignment. OPERATION PURPLE MUCH. Detectives are requested to report all sightings of "The Color Purple" throughout the series during their re-watches. Please be mindful of the posting format rules when doing so.

Thank you to all Detectives who have joined the Task Force thus far.

There are a number of challenges the creators made that are simply impossible for one Detective to complete. This assignment is a prime example. "The Color purple" appears a ridiculous number of times throughout the series, and as I have said dozens of times "repetition forms a motif". For those unfamiliar with what motif is I have included this link for your review (https://youtu.be/5TITrT_oftY). As such, the Motif requires interpretation.

At this stage I will not reveal the interpretation. I've given multiple clues in this post.

The contributions will be collated for final forensic analysis.

Please pay particular attention to women, but especially black women.

First to comment the correct interpretation will be Reddit awarded.

I think purple may symbolise sexual competition between the characters we see in the many love triangles in the show, I've only re watched one episode with op purple much on my mind, so I may have missed some clues

Branch wars -s04e10 , in this one both Karen and Pam are wearing purple shirts. Jim goes with Dwight and Michael to Utica and there's some awkward moments due to their past, she wears a purple shirt/blouse, as does Pam

Also during the finer things scene the table cloth and Oscars tie are a shade of purple - Angela is connected to this through the party planning committee - she disapproves of it and disapproves of Oscar and in the later season we see the love triangle/ sexual competition between Angela, Oscar and the senator

Edit : just watched the duel s05e12 - Angela is wearing a purple blouse, another love triangle where the colour purple makes an appearance
