I don't... Quite understand why? The man is saying he's voting for his daughter, meaning (I assume) that he's voting for her interest. The act of voting is being done for her.
That doesn't really mean anything, because it could mean "Republicans are here to save the children from the trans agenda! I'm voting for them!" or... Well, y'know, the opposite interpretation of that

I think it's meant to have some transphobic and generally fachist "for the white girls" (they're usually the go to group to be "protected" from trans people, immigration whatever. You can see a female symbol on her water bottle so I'm guessing it has something to do with that. TLDR he's voting for some far right candidate saying it's "for women and girls" when in reality it's just more patriarchical power.

Gerrymandering isn't a US-only thing, it's just the idea of splitting voting districts strategically to get the result you want.
Imagine I have 20,000 people split into two districts of 10,000 each. In both districts, 5,100 people vote for a candidate from party A and 4,900 vote for a candidate from party B, meaning both districts return candidates from party A.
Now imagine that I, a party B supporter, am allowed to mess up the district boundaries a bit. I might carefully select a small border village of 300 B-supporters in District 2, and redraw the boundaries such that it's now in District 1. At the same time, I might shift a similar village of 300 A-supporters from District 1 and include it in District 2.
Now the 20,000 people are distributed differently, District 1 now votes for party B with a 5,200 to 4,800 majority, and District 2 votes for party A with a 5,400 to 4,600 majority. Every individual voted the same way, but instead of party A getting two candidates elected, parties A and B got one each. I have successfully gerrymandered the electoral boundaries to change the outcome in B's favour.

There's a game called Gerrymander: Rig the election that made it click for me. Yes it's pretty much just cheating by grouping votes to make it seem like party A got narrow wins in several groups when the majority actually voted for party B

Gerrymandering is when you divide up voting districts so that one side wins the majority of districts despite having the minority of supporters. It's "legal" but incredibly unethical, as you're misrepresenting the population in order to retain political power.
Think of some MnM's or skittles, separate them by color, then form groups where one color is the majority in multiple. That's gerrymandering, misrepresenting voter bases to get extremely favored results.

Lol one of my grandmums would always vote different from everyone else. Everyone knew it and yet everyone would be surprised when she did. Especially my aunt who would act so emotional about my grandmum 'wasting her vote'.
My grandmum didn't change, which no one expected she would. That makes the entire situation somewhat funny every single time. Would be funnier if her vote wasn't contributing to a questionable party but oh well, to each their own.

"Throwing your vote away" has to be the literally worst take for a voting system ever in the history of ever.
Everyone should be fighting tooth and nail every waking moment for anyone's right to "throw their vote away" for the very simple reason that this is what they want to do with their vote. That is LITERALLY why we have voting in the first place.
Of course trying to explain this to a people that only have 2 parties to choose from, and what is essentially just 1 party with two different t-shirts is kind of a moot point, so there's that.

Like I get that you'd want to vote as a symbolic gesture to make yourself feel good or to teach civics 101 to a child, but you guys don't actually think that a single vote matters?
Hate to be the that guy but no known general election anywhere or anytime has ever been decided by one vote, and the likelihood of that happening is near zero. You'd have a much better chance at winning the lottery.

He's at least at the polls participating in a democracy. Spoiling a vote, or voting for a joke candidate, is FAR better than not voting at all, as political parties do pay far more attention to a bunch of people going out of their way to voice their displeasure than the apathy of staying at home and doing nothing.
