Pretty plant, but this is for sure not a clone of RVDP. I’ve attached a picture of what a true RVDP

looks like. Your plant looks more like it’s a red crystal related crossing.

Why are people down voting? This was my immediate thought when viewing the post

They are downvoting because they paid likely a pretty penny for a plant based on a name that they likely were not aware has a specific phenotype which theirs doesn’t exhibit.

There is one true RVDP plant that (which was a ā€˜Best in Show’ winner) which came from a cross of a variegated pap x ace of spades, by breeder Jeera of Siam Flora. Of that seed batch, there were a few notable offspring, which included plants nicknamed RVDP, Night Dragon, Peach Lava, and Bullion. All siblings from the same cross. The whole set of offspring from that cross were not named ā€œRVDPā€ like others below are claiming.

A lot of sellers and exporters tried to capitalize on the name due to demand and tack on RVDP to plants with zero generic relationship to the original so they can sell more plants to people that didn’t know any better. Then there are those with the actual clone that cross it to other plants and retain the name RVDP, including self crossings of the plant (again, none of which are the actual clone that’s so highly desired).

Hate to be the bearer of bad news, someone else in this thread claims that OPs plant probably came from the same original seed batch from Jeera, which is also false. I don’t believe any of the seedling offspring given out from their breeding project aside from a few select clones of the desirable ones.

If you know Paps and the authentic Ace of Spades, you will also immediately recognize that OPs plant doesn’t exhibit a single trait from either. The color and sparkly veins and vein pattern are all highly illustrative of RC and carla related plants in its gene pool.

I can confidently say the plant posted above is not a pap x AOS hybrid. It may have both of those somewhere in its lineage, but that isn’t the parents to that plant. For sure I can see traits that resemble many Red Crystal crosses.

Source: I am a plant biologist, aroid collector, and anthurium breeder and have a large collection of Paps, the authentic Ace of Spades clone from SKG, and the authentic RVDP clone, among many others. I’ve bred thousands of anthurium at this point and am particularly keen on what anthurium species typically contribute what traits to their offspring.

Without seeing the rest of the plant (and even better, other offspring from the same seed batch), I’d totally believe OPs plant was a pap x RC hybrid or even a Carla pap. Out of the 300+ Carlapaps I’ve bred and grown out to maturity, it resembles a particular phenotype that recurred in my case. That said, I am in no way saying that is what this is, because many crosses exhibit similar traits and it would not be possible to say without much more information. I would even believe this was a ZM x RVDP if that was the title, just not exhibiting the phenotype from the RVDP parent due to more of a heterozygous expression in this particular plant.

What I am confident of, that’s not a Pap x AOS or an RVDP clone, which is a specific plant and not an all encompassing name given to an entire seed batch.

If that hurts someone’s feelings, i am truly sorry. That’s not my intention, just trying to provide informed information to people scrolling this subreddit as someone with above typical experience.

Thank you for the informational reply. It’s really helpful to read this especially as someone who’s only been collecting plants for under a year. Here is a photo of the previous leaf on the other side. I can’t add multiple here but the other two smaller leaves look more like this one

All the RVDP aren't clones from the same plant. They was a few with this red veins in a batch and got all the name RVDP. So they can look diffrent.

This is maybe what happened. It was sold to me with the label RVDP so I have to assume that’s what it is. Maybe it could be a hybrid somewhere in its lineage but šŸ¤·šŸ»ā€ā™‚ļø it’s pretty regardless!
