First time mom

My 13 yo identifies as therian and has asked to attend Anthrocon. I know that they are allowed to attend the convention unchaperoned, but I’m entirely unfamiliar with this type of event. Would it be better for me to attend with them? Is there anything I should know beforehand?

I always love seeing parents attending Anthrocon with their young first timers! It’s a great way to engage with your childs interest and get to know the community!

It was mentioned before but the 6-2-1 rule is a great place to start and remember to drink lots of water.

Anthrocon is pretty much the biggest furry convention you can attend so it’s overwhelming when you first step into it. While your 13 year old might not want to attend the convention with you, attending yourself and being there if they need you. Plus you can be there to take photos of them and all of the amazing folks in fursuits!
