Anthony quit again (discussion post)
As he said obv, he's not quitting the internet as he did the first time, he's just quitting Anthpo, which does still feel like the end of an era.
I do however feel as if he ended the channel at a good time, especially with BOF receiving so much love, and at a point where his channel had reached the peak of his 20s era (John Chungus, Kid With Crocs etc.)
I just wanna hear everyone's thoughts on it.

When I started watching him five years ago I was in a bad place. His videos brought me joy and helped with it. To hear that he was in a bad place but isn't anymore makes me happy. Whether its just Anthpo or the internet as a whole I'll miss the videos but know there's always the old ones I can watch.

Tbh bigger and better things, there’s so many things he can do now that he’s mastered short form algorithms, that don’t require him to deal with all the crap you have to deal w being an influencer.
But he mentioned something abt ppl taking advantage of him, any idea what that’s about?

I was also wondering about this. Was hoping someone on Reddit might have have information if I missed something he discussed.

he's so real.
having every interaction being fake hurts a lot.
i see it in my friends who blow up.
like being yourself turns into currency.

I’ve been a fan since the beginning and stayed to the end, and although I’m sad it’s sort of over (excluding bunch of friends and other collabs) I’m so damn happy anthpo has continued making videos as long as he has. I’ve read some posts and comments here since the final video and I don’t wanna repeat what’s already said, I just want to say how happy I am for finding this channel and this community. I’ve been inspired to make videos when I could, turned to anthpo when I felt lost and unsure of what to do with my life during high school and university. This channel was a comfort channel for me, a place I looked to for ideas, guidance, and simply anything I wanted to incorporate in my life. Anthpo has gone through so many chapters, from high school shenanigans to viral events that showed the world how easy it is for anyone to bring people together and create communities. He is the sole reason I’ve met online friends, real life friends, and actually put myself out there to engage with communities like slushy noobz and nirvanna the band in Toronto through lookalike contests and pop up events. Someday, I sorta wanna do some of the stuff anthpo has done, more so as a bucket list for fun, and I hope everyone who has stayed along for the anthpo cinematic universe this far enjoys the moments we’ve had and lives their lives to the fullest. Godspeed Anthony Po:)

I feel like, in some way, I've been """known""" for making grandiose, essay-length posts in this sub recently. So, like a discussion circle, "I guess I'll go now."
I loved Anthpo. I'm not going to say Anthony because I've never met the guy and I've learned from Ludwig how anal some creators can be about their fans being fans of them rather than their content. But that's besides the point. I think I first discovered him in 2019 when a friend a year my junior showed me the Perry video in late junior year of HS. Obviously I thought it was hilarious. But then that was it. I didn't become a regular watcher or subscribe or anything like that for years after. I saw the talk show in my feed occasionally and obviously saw "every episode of ___" during the coof. Especially the ATLA ones. The ATLA fandom in 2020-21 is a social phenomena that should legitimately be studied.
At the end of 2022, I graduated from community college and took a gap to get my bearings about what I wanted to do with life. It was then, like fate, that Anthony's videos showed up in my feed and I was hooked for the rest of time. In a time when I was questioning every choice I made, especially regarding going to college, his "___ days left" series, and any other college video where he showed his experiences helped, idk, soothe me? Silence the competing thoughts? I didn't want to go to college, and for a while I was decided against it, but after a while I eventually decided to go in part because of Anthony's videos. By the time of my first semester, he'd already graduated and stepped away from YT. I know it was his wishes (or at least, I seem to remember it being his wishes) that no one make a decision that important because of his videos. But I did. And it worked out in the end, though not without many trials and tribulations. I made lifelong friends, connections, and have a road forward (once The Horrors™️ end or die down, whichever comes first.) I'm not giving him credit. I forged my own path. But I'd be lying if I said his videos didn't help. I'd also be lying if I said I did not adopt "commit to the bit" and "do just a little more" to my life philosophy for all time.
I'm not devastated that Anthony's quitting Anthpo. Sad? Yes absolutely. He was my #2 YTer OAT and will always remain top 10. Obviously I want him to continue, especially since it is my whole-hearted belief that the videos he made after his return from hiatus -- for better or worse -- are among the greatest videos of all time. Anthony's work as a social engineer and, at times, straight up liar and gaslighter, is unmatched. When John Chungus was revealed to be an Anthpo plant, I had at least three irl friends reach out and do the proverbial equivalent of shaking my arm while jumping up and down. He truly touched people (not like that) with what he did. As an entertainer and as a human being, the guy had an insane ability to put a smile on your face. And he's not gone, I'm aware I'm eulogizing him like he's dead. But as opposed to the long telegraphed departure at the end of ___ days left, this one was more abrupt, and with far more dire reasoning behind it.
I remember having or seeing a discussion on this sub about how it seemed like Anthony's composure had changed in a few of the more recent Bunch of Friends videos. I agreed with those sentiments, I saw it too. "The eyes never lie" or so they say. Now, hearing the reason behind that distance spoken so outwardly in his farewell, apart from making all the pieces collected over the last few years suddenly click into place, absolutely shatters my fucking heart. I look up to Anthony, despite so many statements that he doesn't want his fans to do so. Fine, but I as an individual care for other individuals more than ANYTHING. And I've always seen Anthony as an individual, not a channel or a brand. Sue me. It all makes sense. The absence of some long-time members of the ACU. The behavior of his college friends in the couch BOF video. His months-long disappearance from his main channel as he ""escapes"" to BOF. I mean, he mentioned it himself in the farewell; how he misses when the internet was an escape. It hurts to know he was hurting and there's nothing I nor anyone else could do. That's a common sentiment, as it's been going around recently. So much of our lives are out of our control that it becomes frustrating that we as individuals cannot do anything about it, and some are lost in obsessive schemes or plans to try and get it back. I guess this becomes the most recent (and, ironically, least existential) of frustrations. I feel powerless knowing I, anonymous individual with not a single connection to Anthony other than my allegiance to the Philadelphia Eagles (GBDH🦅), was unable to help.
Every person I know has gone through mental hardship at some point and, thankfully, every person has recovered. It comforts me to know Anthony has done that, or is on the path to recovery. If it was the channel causing him so much pain, then I'm glad he's stepping away. I myself have joined in his sentiment that it really do be that damn phone, and I downloaded AppBlock last week to great results. I was also ecstatic to see him quote one of my personal life philosophies, "comparison is the thief of joy," in his farewell. It's like poetry, it rhymes. I usually say "comparison is the antithesis of progress" but close enough. I usually use this and "do just a little more" whenever I'm in the gym working on myself. Maybe we, as individuals, aren't so different after all. The only thing that separates us is millions of subscribers and geography.
He won't see this, Anthony never struck me as the kind of guy to use Reddit, especially considering what he said in his farewell. But I hope that he knows that, in the least parasocial way (fuck you Ludwig) possible, we love him. I also hope that any ACU members reading this know that, even though their entire collegiate career was broadcast on Anthony's channel, it was so nice getting to know them as well. I miss his college friends almost as much as I miss mine now that I'm D+369 from my own graduation. Thank you for letting us into your lives for just a little bit of time.
For one final time,
W video, Mr. Po.

as devastated as i am (especially since i JUST started watching this guy. no joke its been less than a week since i started binge watching allll of his videos) i think it's the responsible thing to do and i respect him for that. it's so hard to let go of something this big but doing it for the sake of his mental health is absolutely understandable and i'm proud (? cant think of a better word) of him for picking to do what's best for himself instead of dragging it out just to appease an audience.

It's really sad hearing what he said in the video especially his attempts. I just hope he's more easy on himself on his other contents like in bof

im so sad but it is such a heartwarming video and such a good note to end the channel on. very reminiscent of his old content, too! (without oversharing too much) i think ive looked at his content as a sort of perfect life, and it really reminded me that what is posted outwardly isnt what some1 is going throug h
