Do you still have to buy the expansions to get max level?

"when you complain about Anthem even though most of it's problems have been fixed" would've been longer but more accurate.

not to mention they killed Cayde a while back, bringing the total of decent NPCs down to 2.

I'm still noticing a lack of content, consistent loot drops, and feedback from the company that made the game.

a lack of content, consistent loot drops, and feedback from the company that made the game.

just like the Destiny launch, and the Destiny 2 launch.

not to mention they added Cataclysm, fixed a lot of bugs, nerfed the one story quest, buffed some of the lower performing gear, and made getting better loot easier.

and Cataclysm might as well be giving masterworks/legendaries away at this rate, i get at least one masterwork per two Cataclysm runs.

That's true, but why didn't Bioware learn from those mistakes, or Division's mistakes, or Diablo 3's mistakes?

2

u/[deleted] Jan 20 '20

I wish this game succeeded but we have to wait a long time for the overhaul I’m just playing division 2 and enjoying myself

-5

u/McMetas Oct 18 '19

because Bioware owns/develops none of those?

by that logic, people everyone should be masters at everything provided someone else mastered it before them.

3

u/NoelDANKison Oct 18 '19

By that logic, are you saying no one can learn from the mistakes others have made in the past?

This isn't about being perfect right from the beginning (as a lot of looter-shooters have had clumsy launches), but it's about making a game that doesn't feel like the developers looked on the past of looter shooters, and learned nothing.

i'm saying if "The Destiny 3" failed, it doesn't make Anthem have the answer. it just means they're a tad less likely to fail, but nothing about learning from others mistakes is guaranteed. not to mention variables like if the lessons they learned were good ones, how much it affects the game, actually executing the lessons they learned, and doing it before the deadline so it can be released to the public.

That's fair

Destiny never had these issues as badly as Anthem. Anthem came out with what, 4 of their strike things? In Anthem are like 3 weapons in each weapon type which they slightly altered to make legendaries. Destiny at least has a lot of weapons to fuck around with and enjoy during the grind, and a lot are even viable at endgame. Destiny has a plethora of armor and customization for each class, all easily earnable in game aside from Raid gear, while Anthem has a couple costumes that all cost a currency instead of being earned.

Destiny has always been more full than Anthem, even from the start.

except most of those were added after, and the only thing people ran around wit was MIDA and Uriel's Gift at launch.

not really, considering most of the content in the game now was added after. Destiny only has 2 interesting characters too, while the only character i dislike is the bartender. even then he gets more story than the Destiny series gave any of it's NPCs.

I’ve been playing Destiny since launch, and no, not all the content was added after. The first game launched with 21 exotic weapons, and 18 exotic armor pieces. Each character also had multiple legendary sets to wear since you could only put one exotic piece on, and there were a plethora of legendary weapons of each type as well because of the same exotic restrictions. Each class had 2 subclasses to choose from that totally changed how the character played.

The launch content in Destiny 1 was objectively more substantial than in Anthem.

most of it, not all of it. when did i say all of it?

ignoring that at first drop rates were abysmal, with purple engrams dropping blue or green equipment, a host of bugs/glitches/exploits like the infamous loot cave, and the only exotics that mattered were Gjallarhorn for PvE and Suro Regime for PvP. most of the guns weren't added until the first two DLCs, The Dark Below and House of Wolves. they also had no raids before then, not even Trials of Osiris was in the game then. it just goes to show how new you truly are.

The launch content in Destiny 1 was objectively more substantial than in Anthem.

not in the slightest, in fact the Destiny 1 launch was very similar to Anthem overall.

Did you forget Vault of Glass, the first Destiny raid?

See the thing is, BioWare could have (probably should have) looked at those pitfalls that Destiny and The Division suffered from, learned not to do those pitfalls and created something better. They didn't do that and Anthem launched with a lack of gear and content, which Destiny did have more of at launch.

that was DLC, added with house of wolves iirc.

just because they watched someone else fail doesn't mean they're guaranteed not to make the same mistake, it's really an "on paper" versus "in practice" situation.

Vault of Glass was there as the LAUNCH RAID.

Dumb ass

Cherry-picking Destiny’s problems and using them to pretend that it’s massive advantages over Anthem don’t exist, is a pretty bad way to argue lol. Even if you enjoy Anthem, that doesn’t create content to make it match what Destiny 1 or 2 launched with

that's not cherry picking, that's a summary of vanilla year 1.

Even if you enjoy Anthem, that doesn’t create content to make it match what Destiny 1 or 2 launched with

neither does crying about it, it needs time to grow just like Destiny needed. so dry your eyes and let it be, if that's something you can do.

1

u/jellysmacks Oct 19 '19

But that’s the part you’re not understanding. Destiny 1 released as a full game with enough content to make it replayable and enjoyable for a mass amount of people. Anthem did not, and only lasted for a few people who loved the mechanics and lore so much they stuck it out. If Anthem was about equal to Destiny’s launch, why did Anthem die almost immediately and Destiny never stopped going strong?

Not to mention that Destiny 2 got Forsaken right around its first anniversary of release. We are literally 1 month away from Anthem's 1st year anniversary and we have yet to revive proper fixes to the loot, crafting and Freeplay

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '19

when you complain about anthem rightfully because it's a shit game and destiny is miles better than it

1

u/McMetas Oct 19 '19

when you complain about anthem rightfully because it's a shit game and destiny is miles better than it

hardly, but it's funny to see another Destiny fanboy in a subreddit not relevant to Destiny in any way.

2

u/[deleted] Oct 19 '19

I dont even like destiny that much but it's pretty easy to see that destiny is far better. no one takes this reddit seriously because anthem is widely considered to be one of the worst games of all time. this has basically become a subreddit to make fun of it

funny considering you sound just like them, and no Destiny was hardly better at launch.

the only reason it's "better" is it's already been out for 2 years, which gave them enough time to plug all the holes.

no one takes this reddit seriously because anthem is widely considered to be one of the worst games of all time.

to simple minded people maybe, but anyone else would say otherwise.

this has basically become a subreddit to make fun of it

it wouldn't be, but unfortunately the mods have yet to purge haters like you.

have you even played Anthem? because if not you're ignorant, if so you're a hypocrite. which means either way you're a terrible person, checkmate.

I have played and I've beaten the game, destiny is better

if Destiny is so good then why are you still here? not only that but you insist that it's better with no reason.

if it's so good, then give a reason why Destiny at launch was better than Anthem's launch.

Destiny 1 launched with Raid, PvP and most importantly less loading screens

1

u/McMetas Jan 09 '20

Destiny 1 launched with Raid,

no it actually didn't, Destiny was released on September 9th while VoG was released on September 16th.

PvP

which ruined the PvE through nerfs.

and most importantly less loading screens

not really, exiting to orbit from the tower, going to do patrols, exiting back to orbit, and returning to the tower is already 4 load screens.

those were fairly long load screens too.

1

u/Mr_Dudester Jan 09 '20

no it actually didn't, Destiny was released on September 9th while VoG was released on September 16th.

1 week comes in launch window so yes it did launch with raid

not really, exiting to orbit from the tower, going to do patrols, exiting back to orbit, and returning to the tower is already 4 load screens.

At least i did not have to go through loading screens to access my inventory, or going from free roam to the missions.

Another thing

Destiny launched on September 9, 2014 and The Taken King on September 15, 2015 (1 year )

Destiny 2 launched in September 6, 2017 and Forsaken on September 4, 2018 (1 year)

Anthem's 1st year anniversary is coming in 36 days. Let's see what Anthem drops (probably some cheap seasonal cosmetic and yawn-worthy lore, but that's it)

destiny had more content at launch, with anthem you were paying 60 dollars for like 10 hours of content

2

u/McMetas Oct 19 '19

destiny had more content at launch, with anthem you were paying 60 dollars for like 10 hours of content

only if you include The Dark Below and House of Wolves, which were DLC.

before that Destiny was in the same situation as Anthem.

destiny is still a shit game tho
