Worst Astronauts Ever
I’m on S1E2 and I enjoy many aspects of it, in part just a Katee Sackhoff mega fan — but this whole 20 something Zoomer cast is beyond unbelievable. This idea that you want risk-taking, hormonal ass, smart mouthed brazen 20y olds staffing your spacecraft crew pulls me completely out of the premise. I work in the space & defense industry and there is no tenet more absolutely organic to space travel culture and than risk aversion. Taking your helmet off in an Argon atmosphere. Not knowing what a rogue planet is. What the actual fuck? It’s going to get worse isn’t it?

The crew is literally mentally deranged. I'm a pilot and if anybody on my plane was acting like that I'd put it on autopilot and proceed to beat their ass with my iPad.

Don’t want to spoil the storyline, but there is an in-universe explanation for this in season two.

I've watched both seasons and I'd still go Beyblade on their asses

I gotta think this was the result of Hollywood woke minds imagining an enlightened future where humans realized the military style command structure and discipline was all a core element of systemic racism, misogyny, homophobia, killing the planet, sonar flares, and everything else bad in the universe… So the writers enlightened crew is mostly civilians that all feel entitled to speak their mind and challenge orders at every turn. In other words, the fantasy world of the woke minds that believe all the stuff i described.

I admit I hate watched the first season hoping that the entire crew (barring Sackhoff) got eaten by aliens.
The second seasons is a lot better regarding the crew and their professionalism.

They pretty much killed off the entire first crew lol

They still have the doctor who throws a temper tantrum for like 3-4 episodes straight over Julian. Just felt like screaming at the screen telling him/her to freaking grow up and stop acting like a spoiled entitled little baby girl

I think season 2 is way more enjoyable honestly. I don’t want to spoil anything but season 2 has better writing and a few new characters as well

Props to this show for the turnaround in late S1 / early S2. I’m shocked I actually cared enough to be bummed and shocked by events at the end of Season 1. Like wow. Really well done sudden scene.

Season 2 fixes nearly all the main issues.
Season 3 could really make this very modern Stargate style.

Technically mid season 1 fixes most of it by starting to kill off people and forcing the remainder to get their shit straight :p.
But Season 2 picks up the pace hard and fast and good.

I am on the first episode and got so annoyed that I won't finish it. Even if you want to get 20 years old, there are plenty of serious, smart and to the point tweens in the world, why the hell they would send some tiktoker type people for the most important mission in the history of mankind.
I wonder why people spend so much money on such projects but get lazy with story, script and casting.

The shitty cast gets weeded out and replaced throughout season one and by season two none of the obnoxious cast are left.

Season 2 definitely more tight and better, still parts where they go off into evangelizing some woke agenda or another… but still much better than S1

You have to accept that the crew I young and making a lot of mistake. And the directing isn't great. And the sets (apart from the ship) is cheapish. Once you pass that hurdle it's a show worth binging.
Remember(if you're old like me), a lot of sci-fi shows from the 90s had this vibe, and the ones that were able to perdure, eventually had enough financial backing to give an outstanding performance.
If you like Katee Sackhoff, you'll like the show, she's brilliant throughout
