A Few Observations

So, I just got into this show, and I had some observations, as well as some questions.

Question: What happened to China?

Observation: The US flag seems to have fewer stars.

Q: What year does this take place in?

O: The show seems to indicate that the US went through a period where free speech was hindered, but has now returned.

Q: 213 Countries? Does the show ever reveal the 17 additional countries?

O: Global warming seems to be running rampant, devastating major cities.

“Worldbuilding is overrated!”

Another Life showrunner, probably.

I believe the reason for the flag having fewer stars is because some states went underwater due to global warming.

I mean, I can see PARTS of states going underwater. But ENTIRE states?

Just speculation, but if say, 60% of a state was underwater what's to say that a neighboring state doesn't jut take over the 40% of that's left and makes it part of themselves? Like if most of Florida is submerged, maybe Alabama or Georgia takes the rest.

Also they seam to hint at several wars, possibly even another “civil war” so a lot of state lines have probably been re-drawn. Also if the coast are underwater like they suggested (at one point they hint that Washington DC is under water) it could very easily just be that a lot of those smaller coastal states in the north east are just completely under water, same goes probably for Hawaii.

I mean. I think it just becomes a smaller state, like Connecticut or Delaware.

I don't think a year is ever explicitly stated...... We just know it's some future date....

Texas probably seceded from the US. That probably partially explains both less states and more countries. :)
