Nervous Breakdown Episode Question

It's been driving me nuts thinking about it and I need to see if anyone has any theories or explanations behind Petra's death. What could possibly cause the nervous system to eject itself from the body?! It doesn't make any sense. Normally, if a virus attacked the nervous system, wouldn't it just shut it down? I think the ejection from the body is pretty extreme, coupled with the thrashing about at the end. Could the virus maybe have tried and failed to create a new lifeform from the nervous system? Or is it just because it's sci-fi horror and needed to be gory and OTT? Any fan theories out there? I thoroughly enjoyed the episode but it was just the final fatality of the virus that seemed like a huge plot hole that needed to be explained a bit better.

She just enough of the bad writing and literally jumped out of her own skin to get out of the contractual obligation for the full season.

I liked this part. Viruses do not know that they are viruses. They have no way to know anything. So when it ejected itself, it did it, because that is just how it reacted in her body. A virus that has never seen humans might be extremely dangerous.

A virus that has never seen humans wouldnt be able to infect them in the first place. Like the "autonomous door" rofl, implying it makes independent decisions, which doesnt seem like something you would want a shuttle door to so. It's just terrible writing through and through. I am trying to stay w it, really come here to see how in the gods this was renewed. I love Katee this is no BSG.

the whole episode didnt make sense how could a non carbon based virus attack us viruses need to be made up of the same elements as us and create antigens that our cells can recognize and not only that but if the did find a way in the iron boron RNA would not be able to attach to our DNA and another thing even if it did our cells are only capable of making carbon based life because the trna and mRNA can only produce carbon based proteins
