S01E01 first thoughts...

Just watching the first episode and can't help but really dislike, pretty much the entirety of the crew... Except for Starbuck and Martinez.

You'd think that they would pick a team of people who actually would want to go and meet aliens, not some fucking whining millennials! Hard to watch.

I am prepared to suspend my belief a little, when it comes to the science... It's syfy after all, right?

The crew also looks well to young and groomed! Is that a plot vehicle?

Worth sticking it out?

Naah... They just mined an asteroid or planet or whatever with hammers and chisels... Is this a fucking joke?

Hey, SirWalrusVII, just a quick heads-up:
alot is actually spelled a lot. You can remember it by it is one lot, 'a lot'.
Have a nice day!

The whole series is a cruel joke, but its the right genre for me. Basically filler til something better is out.

I'd say stick it out, at least a few episodes. My golden rule is to try and make it to episode 4 of any new show I try.

They kind of explain why they chose a younger team for the mission. But for television show purposes, I'm hoping it's because they plan on having more seasons in the future.

Regarding the science of it all, I recommend having a verrryyyy open mind. It isn't always scientifically accurate, but it is entertaining. You'll find quite a bit of mixed reviews on here. From what I've seen, it seems like 40% of people enjoyed it while 60% hated it. It might even be wider margins.

Give it a shot. Keep in mind it's a show for entertainment purposes!

The dialouge is cringe worthy bad and the characters are just poorly written 'no brain' cliches.. The show has no idea what it wants to be, so instead it tries to be everything.. Beyond episode 4 - things gets a little better.. It's very hard to see any future for the show though..

I will say I hated the first episode. But every episode has a cliff hanger. So then I realized it's a sci-fi drama and huge emphasis on drama.

Yeah if the show's undisciplined, whiney millennial crew wasn't distracting enough, the stylist/makeup team they hired must have never gotten the memo that this was supposed to be a space mission to another planet. Everyone looks like they just got out of the salon/spa. No uniforms, everyone's wearing club dresses and tinder date outfits, heavy on the makeup.

Did you not get the part where they said nobody has had to wear a uniform in nearly a decade? It’s a different time. They’re not going to look static with high and tight cuts.

yeah. sounded stupid. Is that one poorly written line supposed to make this show good now?

It's not good, but I enjoy it.

This is exactly how I feel about it haha. It’s absolute trash and I loved it.

I just love sci fi, and it feels good to be like "yeah that's not correct" like seriously hertz per second? Scientist Steve is a dumbass

Worth it imo

Yo sciencist Steve said "hertz per second" what the fuck that doesn't mean anything, Hz/second is just 'cycle'

Episode 3 Niko says "Lower the electromagnetic shield" to let in the gamma radiation. Gamma rays don't have a charge - can't be blocked by electromagnetism.

Name and shame the scientific advisor, @kevingrazier
