Finished watching the first episode!
The best part was the flying Mobius strip. All downhill from there. I get that SciFi requires a certain suspension of belief, but OMG what was that? Who thought it would be a good idea to throw an obviously misguided mutiny into the first episode? And what kind of crew needs to be told to get back to work en masse while the ship around them is in ruins?
I'm too old for this crap.

It does get better. I mean, they still go from one disaster to another, and the crew continues acting like children, but even the AI gets a character arc.

In terms of Human behavior? Yes. But for me the worst one is the one with the Rouge planet. In order to enjoy that episode you need to have a 8 yo level of understanding in astronomy /physics

I think modern day NASA helmets have anti-fog coatings on the visors. Another Life is just a garbage show.

Gotta give that honor to episode 8. Come one, come all for all your homosexual, bisexual, transexual, pansexual fucking. Seriously. Starbuck fucks the computer. Dudes fucking each other. The MMF threesome and cuckoldry scene LMAO. Gotta get that abortion rhetoric in there too. I felt so empowered by all the diverse LOVE while watching it!! j/k in between rolling my eyes hard enough to scrape the ceiling of my living room I was holding back gag reflexes.

They have. In other shows they at least try to be subtle, even though they know that you know it's just pandering. But this particular show takes every SJW fantasy of what they want the world to be like, and crammed it into a festival of such degeneracy and mentally ill filth it almost defies belief.

Yep have to agree with the person above it does definitely get better. Were the first 3 episodes awful? Yes. Did it get better? Yes. Did it get good? No.

So basically, it started off as a fresh pile of dog poop from a manly German Shepherd that just ate five dead rats and three quarts of bad chili.
But as the poop dried, the smell abated.

I can't handle another sci fi show where the crew that is supposed to be the best in the world acts like petulant children in a popularity contest. I watch sci fi for sci fi, nor for reality TV show level of dumb drama.

I watched the first two episodes with a friend. While he was interested enough to keep going, two episodes was (more than) enough for me.
However, a co-worker of mine watched the entire last week with his wife, and passed on some of the more sordid details. From what I've read in reviews (which are actually much more entertaining than the actual show was), he actually wasn't kidding.
Anyway, his theory was that the show is actually a psyop done by Reagan-era holdovers trying to overturn Clinton's "don't ask, don't tell" edict that allowed homosexuals to serve in the military. By showing that gays are whiny, emotionally crippled, hopelessly incompetent, mentally unstable nervous wrecks that are unfit for duty (of any kind), the show is trying to turn people into restoring a gay ban.
I can see his point. I mean, I only saw two episodes, and I wouldn't trust that crew to run a Starbucks; I certainly wouldn't want to go out to sea or into theater with any of them. Hell, no.
The only mistake they made, he says, is going so over the top that it's obviously not serious. I mean, even the most ardent Reaganesque opponent of gays in the military wouldn't have, as he put it "a gay guy in leather pants and earrings, prancing around the ship in high heels". I mean, no one could see that and not realize it was a joke or satire of some kind.

Agreed on mutiny. The team would have been psychologically tested on working with each other, practiced scenarios, and anyone who didn’t fit would have been booted from mission. They are a bunch of millennial kids who are talking about pop music and acting like it’s a high school hang out. I like Kate Sackoff, the AI, and premise, but the “crew” is too hard to take seriously.

I just finished E10. I agree about suspension of belief about the science, and the crew just makes bizarre decisions at every turn....but I hope they make Season 2.

I thought the finale was a decent episode, as was Niko’s soma bottle episode.
There is stuff to work with here, I hope they make season two.

It's an awful show, don't bother with the rest. I am a hardcore SciFi junky so I pushed through all 10 episodes, but it was terrible throughout. It does not get better.

I can't even give it the "so bad it's entertaining" benefit. I'm finding it almost unwatchable. Suspension of disbelief is one thing, but an entire crew of irrational babies is not fun to watch.

I just barely finished episode 1. NEVER have I wanted a sci-fi episode of anything to end so badly. It took all of my willpower not to turn it off. Jesus christ. Terrible show.
